We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dj ReRe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dj ReRe, thanks for joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
After getting laid off multiple times throughout the year and not making enough off the one job to pay the bills, I hopped on a cruise as a DJ and fell in love with the lifestyle and the freedom to create. It was scary, but I was extremely frustrated with my current career so I jumped in and never looked back.

Dj ReRe, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an established celebrity DJ with a penchant for spinning infectious music and getting people off their feet. Born and raised in Omaha, NE, I moved to Miami in 2012 to pursue a more vibrant lifestyle. I didn’t embark on her music journey till later on in life. When I eventually started to shape my career as a DJ, everything changed as it sparked a burning passion for me to pursue this as a profession. Taking the world by storm with her live performances, I have performed at a multitude of venues all over the world including cities such as New York, Miami, California, Paris, Bahrain, London, and many other places. I also have a unique innate competency to ingeniously present music in multiple styles, all while maintaining a consistent brand, one of the factors that make me one to keep an eye out for. Apart from having an extremely robust clientele including internationally known brands such as Aeropostale, Cheetos, Champs Sports, Formula 1, Miami Grand Prix, and Ferrari just to name a few, I also performed at a plethora of major festivals and cruise lines including Rolling Loud, Superfest headlined by Cardi B and Migos, Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises and so much more.
As I exponentially progress as a DJ, I also managed to amass a significant and loyal following. Appearing in countless online publications and listed in Djanemag.com’s Top 100 Female DJs list multiple times, I have also won three national awards. Apart from being a DJ, I also have a Bachelor of Science in Journalism/Mass Communications as well as a Masters in Public Administration. With plans to bring music to even more people from all walks of life, I hope to engage current audiences and reach out to new ones with her exciting yet profound live performances.
My journey has not been easy by a long shot and I am still trying to break down barriers to persevere. Currently, I work alone and I have been since I started. Hopefully, that will all change in the future, but until then, I will keep pushing the culture forward.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I LOVE THEM! I am actually creating my FIRST ever FREE collection NOW! Soon to drop in October 2022. These NFTs will definitely have some awesome utilities, for example, FREE entry into one of my shows/parties. It will be something I hope to expand on in the years to come.
Have you ever had to pivot?
In 2020. If that year didn’t change your life, what were you doing? No more cruising, no clubs, no dancing together, NO PROBLEM! I shifted all in-person events when a past client asked me to DJ for her birthday, but via Instagram Live! Never knew how to do that, but made it work and I even got paid! Since then I focused on creating live streaming parties and providing my DJ/Hype Girl services via live streaming from my living room! I also provided Drive-by parties and extremely small events. I focused on building my DJ/production company, REmixed Events LLC and I couldn’t have been more proud of myself and where I am going. BEST thing to happen to my career was 2020. I don’t fold when others did, I don’t believe in that.
