We were lucky to catch up with DJ LimeLightz recently and have shared our conversation below.
DJ , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful in my industry it takes thick skin. Everyone won’t cling to you at first all your ideas may get stolen at first by the bigger brands. Eventually though, once you’ve built a foundation that looks good with logos and good representation of exactly who that brand is, you will succeed. But I think a lot of people think the music industry is easy to jump in and manipulate where as it really does take time to build your notoriety.

DJ , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started out very young in the music Industry. I made custom mixtapes for friends and family. Custom ringtones when that was a thing. I just always had my hands in music some how until I eventually began hosting parties. I took that experience and decided I wanted more control over crowds so I began to Dj and Mc my events. It got to a point where I built my name up and was DJ’n a lot of college parties. Next thing I know I was doing guest slots on a few radio stations. Then as I continued to drop mixtapes on the biggest platforms helping artist emerge into the bigger scene, that turned into me touring with different artist. Long story short …
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
When I started my company throwing parties and buying my equipment. I honestly used a lot of the money I made from DJ’n but I would also merge that money with the annual refund checks you would receive in college. I would take that money and go book venues for parties.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I think for me the best way is when I’m on stage and I make sure the video wall has my logo on it with my social media handles. I usually am able to pull At least 100 followers or
More just buy having the brand on that big screen.
