We recently connected with DJ Kno It All and have shared our conversation below.
DJ , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Well I think if you want to be successful at something you need to love it first, anything that you do on a day to day basis can start to feel like a job after a while. I think you need to be willing to hear a bunch of no’s and still keep pushing with intensity, drive, and passion.
DJ , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well I was born in New York and relocated to Atlanta Ga for college and jumped into the entertainment scene. After realizing college just might not be for me and what I wanted to do as a profession, I moved to Atlanta permanently and started my own company doing Marketing and Promotions. I was always DJ’ing clubs and parties but I my company ended up getting record label street accounts for Atlantic Records, Bad Boy, B.E.T to name a few. After years of working for record labels and doing clubs I took my talents to FM radio. Since I have started radio I have transitioned to being an on air personality and Mixer for Streetz 94.5 Atlanta where I currently work today.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
Well one of my favorite marking stories has to be when I was working for Atlantic Records for T.I album Paper Trail. I remember my boss calling from the label calling me and telling me that T.I was doing a Grand Hustle Weekend takeover in the city for Atlanta for B.E.T Awards Weekend, and they wanted 100 person street team out all weekend. It was definitely hard to put all those people together and arrange transportation, and getting them promo materials but I pulled it off with the help of my team The Untouchables. We were out all weekend and we definitely made sure we were heard and seen all around the city.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The biggest time I ever had to pivot in business was when the pandemic started. As you know everything was closed especially the clubs and lounges and that’s where I make most of my income. Looking at the landscape I decided it was time to expand my brand and add things like Merch, Playlist, and taking that step to being a radio personality when I was just a mixer at that point.
