We recently connected with DJ Herc and have shared our conversation below.
Hi DJ, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My last Mixtape 706 Takeover Vol 2. Was a very Special tape that i did. Im from a city and area where it’s slim to none to make it out and we don’t have the platforms and networks to be heard. I took it upon myself and my few connections that i do have and developed a tape filled with some of the most amazing talents out of my area (706) and put it all on one tape featuring artist like (4K, Ro3cool, Fair jones, FS Rudy, Moneywave Cam, TrippleXross Glock and etc…). With the help of my team the collective project has surpassed 30 thousand streams and from where I’m from that’s a huge win because I don’t even have 30 thousand people in my area so means these guys are getting attention from different cities and states and I’m just beyond honored to have the opportunity to give these talented artists a platform to showcase their artistry.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well growing up I’d always knew that I would be great at something but never knew at what. So when I started djing i felt a passion for it that I never felt before and I knew it was a sign from God that this was my career. The DJING career is not easy as it seems it takes countless hours and discipline to develop your craft and you have figure out your strengths and weaknesses. See my strengths are transitions and song selections I’ve always had a ear for the music every since I was a child in all different genres, which wants to pursue in becoming a A&R, but Every DJ have weaknesses mine were stage presence and mixing and I’ve progress so much since the beginning that I’ve developed a all around skill. When you come to a DJ HercOnDaBeat event I give the crowd a 100 percent every minute and create memories of a lifetime.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Stop condoning violence and stop supporting the wrong everyday we get on the internet and see more of the bad than good in artist and wants everybody to be at war which it doesn’t has to be there are too many artists getting Killed and arrested for things that are portrayed on the media.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs is something that is a hard code to crack but it’s definitely a big source of income that is developing for the future of society and I’m actually in the learning stages of creating NFTs you’ll see in time to come.
