We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful DJ D-Mil. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with DJ below.
D-Mil, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
My Technics 1200 Turntables. This opened the door for everything in my carrier.

D-Mil, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the music business because of my love for music Mom had Motown records in the house, my oldest brother had exposed me to break dancing in the 80’s and hip hop culture when I was a kid that changed my life. Started out DJ ing and throwing parties but evolved to a full time DJ, studio producer, Business owner, and Radio personality. The journey has been full of challenges over the years but also been rewarding. I work for a variety of clients from private or corporate businesses, or brand clients I set out to deliver a quality product every event, session or show. What sets me apart from others in the market place is my drive, consistent work ethic, my ability to connect, and relate to the audience.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Getting paid to do what I love, and making others happy that part is very rewarding.
Have you ever had to pivot?
During Covid, no one could connect in person events were canceled. Things were uncertain. I was nervous Personally thinking how will I support my family, with no in person radio show, no events etc. I started DJ ing and throwing virtual parties/ DJ events on the internet starting with Facebook live, it went viral with show’s streaming 10’s of Thousands of times. A big hit, and I was making money It was only a matter of time before Facebook shut that down with getting so popular and licensing laws not caught up with technology. Next challenge moving the audience to a new platform (because covid was not going away) the video gaming community had long used “Twitch” to stream audio and video live. So we moved the show over there and created something special and not only that but Twitch has a pay system in place with subscription base and tip (bits) viewers can support and create accounts and actually be more involved with the show and product. Intro “Live Crew” this was the name my audience dubbed them selfs as. I built a loyal following on Twitch and had blast doing it not mention I got a whole new crew of virtual and real friends too “the Live Crew” (we connect in person these days at events. etc.) I still DJ on Twitch when time permits.
