We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DJ Cashflow a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
DJ , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think it takes determination, hard work, believing in God and yourself. Success requires surrounding yourself with the right people, who are supportive and willing to help you reach your goals. Setting goals for yourself that are attainable and calculating to keep you accountable to yourself and the overall business objective. Blocking out any negativity and never giving up on yourself and using the failures of the business as an opportunity to improve. Success also takes following up, consistency, and discipline to do the required work to push your brand forward.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
A little bit about me, my father was in the military so I’m considered a military brat. I was born in Panama and have duel citizenship. I am very faith based, I put god first in everything I do. I am am introvert /extrovert. I enjoy being inside, but my profession requires me to be outside which I have grown to enjoy both. I love helping people and supporting other small business and bringing talented people together.
I got into the business through my business partner DJ 03. I was being the supportive friend. I have always had a passion for music, but didn’t know what my passion or purpose would be in it. As I accompanied my friend to different gigs I learned to host and DJ. I truly started by being a good soldier and support system to someone else’s business before I started my own.
DJ Cashflow provides an experience for people who are looking to celebrate major events in their lives. My expertise is providing and experience where people can truly engage and be in the moment of celebration. What sets me apart from other is my presentation and professionalism. The key to great business is communication. I try to give my guest what they want and more. I try to give memorable experiences and over exceed in delivery when it comes to engagement during events and functions that I host.
I am most proud of the fact that the bulk of my business is from word of mouth. I am proud when people speak highly of me even when I’m not in the room, and tell others about the amazing experience that they had during an event that was hosted by DJ Cashflow. I am trust worthy and I want to make sure I am giving my best to people , and make sure your experience is one you won’t forget and talk about for years to come.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn to stop double booking. Double booking by accident caused unnecessary stress and can potentially ruin your reputation as a professional. I needed to organize! Initially I was not using my calendar or any other protocols to hold me accountable to bookings and and engagements that I had previously committed to. I started organizing, put a contract in place, and utilized my calendar. Setting protocols and implementing changes that allowed me to plan better in my daily business functions allows me to better serve my guest and provide exceptional details to my guests needs for each event.

Have you ever had to pivot?
A pivotal moment came in my career when I had the opportunity to DJ at a local club was presented. I was working part time jobs that I did not like, and had to make decision to take a chance on my skills. Although, I felt it was a long shot it helped mold me into the curator of vibes that I am today. That opportunity gave me the confidence to branch out and expand the way I currently represent myself and do business.
