We recently connected with Diya Shakoor and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Diya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
To this date the most meaningful project to me is my first written and published book ‘The Grand Scheme of Life’ (A Bammas Journey). When I said I was going to write a book I was laughed at… this book was not only to silence the crowd but to show that I actually have talent. This book has been highly regarded and is currently rated a 4.8 on Amazon, 5.0 on Barnes and Nobles and has a script being prepared for a movie.
Diya , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
First and foremost thank you so much for this opportunity. My name is Diya Shakoor and I am from Landover, MD. I am a retired army veteran that loves to read and write. I got into the industry of selling books by doing research and homework on writing styles. I wanted to ensure I had a sound product before I engaged in any business matters. Once I figured out my genre and what I was going to write about I established and LLC for my company Hard 2 Oppose Publishing. After establishing my publishing company I learned the ins and out of how distribute my books digitally and wholesale. After I established that process and began promoting my written works, I started doing festivals, book fairs, and pop up vendor events to establish a presence. With establishing the presence came networking and opportunities. Now that I have all of that down to a science I offer consultations to first time writers to help them write and sell their books.
Everyone is proud that I doing something positive for the culture. In a world full of negative things I bring positive energy and enlightenment.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
There are several books that helped me shape my experience. The Alchemist, The Energy Bus, The 4 hour Work Week, Think and Grow Rich, The Power of Positive Thinking,The No Complaining Rule and Powernomics. All of these books help me shift and grow while on my journey.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to help people in our community by showing them healthy habits… things such as reading, therapy, working out, eating right and journaling.
