Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ditty Bhatti. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ditty, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Ditty | A Gluten Free Bakery began right here in our kitchen, with family at the heart of it all. When my kids and I had to go gluten-free for health reasons, we quickly learned how difficult it was to find baked goods that were both safe to eat and truly satisfying. At the time, most gluten-free options felt like a compromise — dry, dense, and lacking the warmth and comfort that homemade baking brings.
So, I started experimenting — one recipe at a time — determined to make gluten-free cakes, cookies, and other treats that everyone at the table could enjoy, whether they were gluten-free or not. What began as a personal mission to care for my family slowly grew into something larger. I started hearing from others in our community who were struggling with the same thing: wanting real, delicious baked goods they could trust, especially for special occasions and celebrations.
That’s when the idea for the bakery truly took shape. The gluten-free community has grown so much, and I saw a chance to bring something special — a place where quality, taste, and inclusivity come together in desserts meant for life’s ordinary and memorable moments. From a practical standpoint, it made sense; there’s a real and growing need for handcrafted, small-batch gluten-free treats made with care. But more than that, it felt right.
This bakery lets me bake at my own pace, with intention and joy — creating desserts that make people feel seen and included. Each item that leaves the kitchen is made with the same love and attention that started this journey in the first place.
At our bakery, our goal is simple: to ensure no one misses out on the joy of an exceptional dessert, whether it’s an everyday treat or part of a special celebration.

Ditty, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an attorney by training, but most importantly, I’m a mom. Baking became my creative outlet — a space where precision meets passion — and over time, it grew into something much more meaningful: a way to share joy through gluten-free desserts.
At my bakery, I create indulgent, inclusive desserts for every occasion — from everyday cookies and cupcakes to beautifully designed wedding cakes and full celebration spreads. Like when I first started, I’m still experimenting and finding new ways to meet our community’s needs and cravings.
To my surprise, the most meaningful part of this journey has been the community that’s grown from it. What began as serving customers has evolved into genuine relationships built on trust and shared milestones. I personally communicate one-on-one with every client about their order — to make sure we’re aligned on every detail, so they can take the worry off their plate and simply enjoy the moment. I’ve had the privilege of celebrating life’s moments with families, from engagements to weddings to their little ones’ first birthdays and beyond.
At its heart, my bakery is about connection, care, and creating desserts that make everyone feel included in life’s sweetest celebrations.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When I first started the bakery, I thought it would be simple. I imagined making the same standard cakes for everyone, offering a few small treats, and having a clear, predictable path. I also assumed my friends would naturally be my first (and maybe my only) customers. While I’ve been lucky to have their support, I quickly learned that a business doesn’t grow on friendships alone — the work has to speak for itself.
Over time, I had to unlearn the idea that things would always go according to plan. (I am very much still learning to unlearn this.) Instead, I discovered that a bakery grows organically, shaped by the community and the customers themselves. They tell you what they want, what they celebrate, and what they crave — and listening carefully to that feedback has guided the evolution of my menu.
It’s been a humbling, eye-opening process, one that’s taught me to embrace flexibility, creativity, and the joy of building something together with the people I serve.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The reputation of my bakery has grown from the baked goods themselves. I’m a baker with many other commitments, so I can’t focus on volume — and that’s intentional. Every cake, cookie, and treat is crafted with care, attention, and intention. Quality always comes first, ensuring each item tastes exceptional and meets the high standards my customers expect.
Within the gluten-free community, people expect more now. When one of our cakes or treats is served at a wedding, birthday, or special celebration, guests ask, “Who made that?” Those personal recommendations have been invaluable, allowing the bakery to grow organically through real-life experiences rather than advertising. People know that when they order from us, they’re getting something made with thought, care, and consistency — and that trust has been the foundation of the reputation I’m proud to have built.
