Hi Dionte, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When the pandemic shuttered Las Vegas, I, like many others, felt a profound sense of unease. The perceived lack of a cohesive, intelligent response from our leaders left me with the unsettling feeling that we were on our own. This spurred me to seek alternative avenues for financial security—ones that wouldn’t land me in trouble with the law. Though I’d been invited to the cryptocurrency party years earlier, back when Bitcoin was a mere $10, I’d missed the boat. Now, I felt a pang of regret. But rather than dwell on it, I dove headfirst into researching the world of cryptocurrency, NFTs, and the metaverse. I saw the potential, the opportunity, and I was determined to find my place within it. Going it alone, I began cautiously investing my own money, a little at a time, exploring various crypto projects like Cardano, SHIB, Solana, Bitcoin, PI and several others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Navigating the crypto market’s volatile landscape was a challenge, and I quickly realized I might have jumped into the deep end. Still, I persevered, making small, calculated moves. With the pandemic limiting my options, my focus shifted to NFTs and the metaverse. I saw a wealth of potential for monetization, but exploring this new frontier alone proved difficult. My friends weren’t interested in crypto, NFTs, or the metaverse, leaving me without a sounding board for my ideas. Despite this, I managed to develop a concept: The Urban Blockchain, a company designed to explore the possibilities of this emerging technology. To bolster my knowledge, I took courses on Google Learning, Coursera, and Udemy, supplementing my academic learning with countless hours of YouTube tutorials. Finally, I found a platform that allowed me to bring my vision to life and create my first NFT.

The Urban Blockchain, born from the crucible of the May 2020 pandemic shutdown, emerged as a direct response to the devastating impact on the creative industry. As entertainment professionals ourselves, we witnessed firsthand the urgent need for innovative monetization strategies for art, music, and other creative content in a world where live events and physical experiences had become impossible.
Our NFT and Music NFT platforms empower creators to monetize their digital work while fostering deeper connections with fans through unique and engaging experiences. Furthermore, our Metaverse solutions provide brands with the opportunity to establish a virtual foothold in the rapidly expanding realm of virtual reality.
Looking to the future of decentralized finance, we’ve launched Axion DEX (AxionDEX.io) in Q1 2025 on the Optimism Superchain network. But what does that mean? A Decentralized Exchange, or DEX, like Axion DEX, allows users to trade cryptocurrencies directly with each other, cutting out intermediaries like traditional exchanges. This offers greater control and often lower fees. Optimism Superchain, on the other hand, is a network of interconnected blockchains built using Optimistic Rollup technology. This technology bundles multiple transactions together, making them more efficient and cost-effective than processing them individually on the main Ethereum blockchain. For crypto traders, this translates to faster transaction speeds, lower gas fees, and access to a wider range of trading pairs, all within a secure and decentralized environment.
