Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dionne Webster-cox. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dionne , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I took a risk on one of my career’s most significant and challenging fights when I stood up against Abbott Laboratories. This $200 billion company manufactures Similac, Alimentum, and Elecare baby formulas. Families from New York City, Chicago, Mississippi,
Texas, Ohio, and Michigan came to me with heartbreaking stories—many had babies who suffered from bacterial infections, skin lesions, hair loss, and digestive issues. They endured constant hospital visits, bewildering medical professionals, and desperate attempts
to keep their babies alive, all while the cause remained unknown. The recall of Similac formulas finally clarified everything, but the damage had already been done by then. These families should have been enjoying the precious moments of new parenthood, but
instead, they were battling relentless illness in their newborns. At a time when proper nutrition was critical for the development of their babies, they were burdened with fear and uncertainty, wondering if the very formula they depended on was making their
children sick. I knew I had to act. Filing this lawsuit wasn’t just about holding a corporation accountable—it was about giving a voice to families who had been silenced and standing up for babies who couldn’t speak for themselves. Taking on a corporate giant
like Abbott Labs was no small feat. I knew I was up against a company with vast resources and robust legal defenses, but I was determined to fight for these families. The emotional weight of this case was overwhelming, but it only fueled my resolve. I poured
my passion, skill, and expertise into this fight daily. I fought to highlight the rights of these parents, many of whom felt powerless, against a corporation that prioritized profit over safety. It was one of my career’s most taxing and emotionally charged
battles, but knowing I was giving these families a chance at justice kept me going. This case wasn’t just about legal victory—it was about making sure that these families, and countless others like them, knew they were not alone. We even provided evidence
to Congressional hearings, but Abbott and their lobbyists even managed to wiggle their way out of this case, devasting numerous families.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Dionne Webster-Cox, an accomplished attorney and the principal of The Webster Law Office. My firm is located in Southfield, MI. I have been practicing for almost twenty years. We represent parties in Civil Rights, Personal Injury, Whistleblower cases,
and Employment Law. I grew up in Detroit, attended Cass Technological High School, graduated from the University of Michigan, and received my law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Growing up in Detroit, I developed a strong respect for a sense of justice,
a value deeply ingrained in me by my mother, who predicted I would become a lawyer early on. She saw me as a little rebel. She had a glimpse of my abilities to reason and negotiate. My journey into law was not a straight path; it was shaped by my life experiences,
working in corporate America, a strong family foundation, and a deep moral compass that guided me toward fighting for those who have been wronged. After earning my law degree, I founded Webster Law Office, PLLC, rooted in my belief that everyone deserves legal
representation that is not only skilled but compassionate. Building my firm required both mental and fiscal discipline. I understood early on that to succeed; I would need to balance the demands of running a business while fiercely advocating for my clients.
My meticulous approach to managing the firm’s finances, alongside my focus on fostering a supportive and talented team, has been critical to my firm’s growth and success, instilling confidence in our clients and setting us apart in the legal field. My relentless
commitment to solving my clients’ problems and standing up for their rights sets me apart. I approach each case with the mindset that every legal battle is not just about winning but seeking justice for those who have been hurt, marginalized, or silenced.
My ability to navigate complex legal systems while maintaining a deep empathy for my clients makes me unique. My team and I work tirelessly to ensure that every client feels heard, respected, and well-represented, no matter the scale of the case. One of my
proudest achievements is the reputation I have built for my firm as a beacon of hope for those who have been mistreated or wronged. Whether advocating for civil rights, representing whistleblowers, or providing expert consultation in employment law, I pride
myself on my firm’s ability to take on complex cases and win, even when the odds seem stacked against us. This track record should reassure our clients and give them hope for a positive outcome. My deep passion for justice, unwavering dedication to my clients,
and ability to inspire and empower others with my knowledge make me a unique combination of legal expertise and genuine care for people. Whether in the courtroom, in the community, or on stage, I am not just a lawyer but an advocate for change.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
One of the boldest marketing risks we took was telling the untold stories behind the Similac case to the media. We framed it as “a Big Bad company with deep pockets and influence on Capitol Hill, feeding tainted formula to our most vulnerable inner-city babies.”
This wasn’t just a campaign—it was a battle cry. By taking on such a powerful corporation, we stirred local and national media, risking backlash, but it brought much-needed attention to these families’ struggles. Another memorable moment was when I took on
Corey Harris’s case. Harris had been publicly ridiculed for driving without a license, and the media had painted him in a harsh light. I took a chance, standing before the judge and the world to show that one mistake didn’t define him. I fought to change the
narrative, demonstrating that Harris was a good man who deserved redemption. But it didn’t stop there. His ultimate redemption—the third chapter in his journey—became a story of hope, locally and internationally. The recognition I gained from representing
Harris and fighting for justice on such a public stage propelled him and my firm into the national spotlight. We earned respect and attention for winning a case and shifting the narrative, proving that resilience, integrity, and faith could overcome public
scrutiny and injustice. At this moment, I cemented my firm’s reputation on the global stage, showcasing the power of relentless advocacy and risk-taking for the greater good.
