We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dinesh Sunar a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dinesh thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
hello I am from beautiful Place form country Nepal . Nepal is the country of the mountains Everest the highest mountains peak of the world and birthplace of Lord Gautam buddha Lumbini and The Brave Gurkhas .There are more than 50 festivals celebrated in Nepal every year. While the national festivals have fixed dates, religious festivals in Nepal are set by astrologers following the lunar calendar..
I come from a very remote community with no transportation, infrastructure, and utility facilities. There, people struggle and find it difficult to feed even once a day. Even though I was discriminated against since I belonged to a lower caste and experienced it everywhere in our culture. This encouraged me to push myself further and provided me with the strength to do so. Even I once traveled two days’ worth of distance while carrying food. An athletic academy had no possibility of existing in a such rural village. However, when I was 7 years old, wealthy, and upper-caste residents began to get electricity and television in the village. I used to visit the homes of the wealthy to watch television whenever I had some free time from work. Since the owner belonged to an upper caste, they forbade us from entering their home, so I observe from the outside and spied on everything from a small hole to being able to watch the television. If they discovered my spying, they reprimanded us, even bit me, and punished us. All these things were inspiring me daily. I developed a passion for stunts after watching Bruce Lee, Tony Jaa, Jackie Chains, etc. Since there was no platform or safety at that time, I began studying and practicing tricks, including front flips and backflips, on the riverbank in the sand. As a result, I had numerous wounds and fractures. But the day started when I began performing my exploits at weddings, events, and the school and began becoming well-known around the district. Fortunately, at a community gathering in a remote part of one of my nearby towns, a chef guest Inspector-General of Police noticed my stunts platform to practice my passion game parkour at the age of 17 that was the day I knew the athletic I was into was called Parkour..

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My days would just pass by me playing in the sand mountain, Ground Rivers side or going near the lake I was continuously Hard work practicing. People in the community used to criticize me by saying things like this man is not going to do anything in life, he will die one day by doing this, acting like a monkey, worth time and someone told me like mad. this is how my struggle went by and when I was perfect, I went to the state shows to perform and a lot of people gave me titles of famous Nepali actress because of what I did. After performing in the state shows people motivated me by cheering me up and I was excited! I used to also do stunts at my school and that’s when I made a lot of friends showing my talent. As I continued with my life people kept on encouraging me and it motivated me to move on. I had to walk 3 hours to the programs because there was no transportation and at the programs, there were volleyball and talent show competitions and the armed police force departments chief (Mr. Sanat Kumar Basnet) was there as well. After that, the chief of the Armed Police Force was amazed and shocked by seeing my talent and I got a job offer in the Armed Police Force as a gymnastics player. This platform gave me energy and encouraged me. Until this time, I didn’t know anything about parkour and in 2012 as I watched parkour videos, I was shocked. I learned how to do parkours by watching videos daily and to show the people I do parkours I was focusing more on this. I also saw different videos of somersaults from the Guinness World Records website, and this encouraged me more I was being prepared to set one of the world records in 2014 and set the record of the most twisting backflips off a wall in 1 minute with a total number of 18 backflips in 2017. People used to dominate me saying I can’t break any records and I am a loser and things like that. As I set this world record and became certified, I felt like I won something big in my life.
My future holds is to find opportunities in the USA to develop and recognition to parkour. There is a big dream in life, which is an art that rose from the pile of sand 22 years ago, and while doing that, it may have been fought in many places, but it rose again without giving up. A boy who grew up in a small village in Khotang, the journey from Khotang to Kathmandu and APF’s sportsman’s life journey and Parker’s journey together and many Guinness World Records from Nepal to America was really a struggle. And still, the work of keeping the Guinness World Record is still going on, I don’t know how many records I will have peace of mind, just keep on keeping on and keep struggling, I don’t know what the destination will be. I want to inspire the world with my work by taking a small picture of that struggle, sacrifice, and penance and letting everyone know the importance of the parkour game in Nepal and outside Nepal. I want to enter Netflix and if made some money I want to build a parkour Academy in Nepal and also keep relations between USA and Nepal through Parkour.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
No. I never got a chance to read books like that due to poverty and lack of resources.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I am grew up in a remote community with no transport, buildings, facilities and clubs near him so he says this meant I had to teach myself skills a river side sand mountain. With nature
