Dinah, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Taking the Risk to Trust My Intuition
It often occurs during my meditation practice. I begin by sitting on a cushion in a cross-legged position, closing my eyes, and checking my posture: straight spine and slightly tucked chin. Then, I take a slow and steady breath in through my nose – inhale, pause, and exhale slowly through my mouth. This breath connects me to my body and creates a space for presence in the moment. However, before that deep exhale, there are usually wandering thoughts without particular significance, importance, or priority. The mental chatter includes reminders of things to do, like buying eggs, signing the kids up for camp, or even remembering where I left my phone charger at work. These thoughts come and go, a continuous stream of nonsensical chatter. Then, the critical thoughts arise. I have noticed that this is when my mind brings up the issues I’m trying to work through. At this point, my mind becomes aware, and I take another slow, steady breath in through my nose, followed by an exhale through the nose. Finally, I find that moment of release, reset, and surrender.
I have a strong connection to my intuition. When I am free from distractions, especially during meditation, I often receive clear visual imagery, whispers of messages, or a strong inner knowing. I prefer to meditate in the early morning, usually between 4:00 to 5:30 a.m. In Sanskrit, this time is called Brahma Muhurta, which translates to “time of Brahma.” It is considered a sacred time, a moment of divinity or the creator’s time. This is the pre-dawn period when our life force energy, or prana, is believed to be strongest. The mind and body are in perfect balance during this time. Brahma Muhurta is considered highly conducive to spiritual practices, as it aligns our minds with the subtle energies of nature. When I first started my morning meditation practice, I wasn’t aware of Brahma Muhurta; my intention was simply to create some quiet “me-time” before the chaos of the day begins.
Have you ever had a strong intuitive sense that something was going to happen? A feeling that one choice was better than another? Or perhaps you’ve envisioned a scenario in your mind that evoked intense emotions before it even occurred? These are not mere coincidences. I started keeping a journal of these synchronicities because they became too frequent and meaningful to dismiss as mere chance. I often had these doubtful conversations in my mind during Brahma Muhurta. Sometimes, I would be too fatigued to resist my rational mind, eventually finding that space of tranquility. In that quiet state, clarity emerged, revealing that trusting one’s intuition is a practice.
When I share the imagery, guidance, and insights with my clients, their eyes widen with wonder. These revelations help them initiate the healing process, recover lost memories, or gain clarity in specific moments. I vividly remember the first time I decided to trust and communicate my intuitive knowing during a Reiki session. Teresa sought my support when she needed a significant energy shift. She felt stuck in life, experienced sleep deprivation, suffered from panic attacks, and found decision-making to be self-sabotaging in both personal and professional realms.
Teresa was interested in trying Reiki because she heard it could improve her sleep, alleviate stress and physical pain, and aid in her battle with depression. As the session progressed, I could feel the energy shifting within her body. Images unfolded in my mind like scenes from a movie: a young girl on a swing, basking in the warmth of a sunny day, surrounded by a vibrant yellow light. With each swing, she soared higher into the blue sky, her toes almost reaching the fluffy white clouds above. The girl faced a decision – the swing lifted, and it was as if she could fly. As Teresa took laborious deep breaths, I gently encouraged her to allow the energy to flow and release, assuring her that she was in a safe space to embrace whatever needed to come forth.
Teresa’s Reiki session concluded with tears in her eyes, and she experienced a brief, sharp pain in her left elbow that quickly subsided. She expressed feeling light and a deep sense of peace. She also described seeing a golden glow reminiscent of sunshine. She expressed gratitude, stating that her first Reiki experience provided exactly what she needed. I was elated that through Reiki, I could facilitate an energetic balance and initiate her body’s healing process. However, for me, the session wasn’t complete; the movie playing in my mind needed to be shared. So, I asked Teresa if she would mind if I shared my experience during the session, emphasizing that it might not immediately resonate with her.
Teresa sat there, shaking her head and clutching her elbow, looking at me without expression. “I hadn’t thought about that moment until just now,” she said. “I jumped off the swing and broke my arm. I wore a cast for a little over two months, and it was a terrible experience.” It was also the moment when Teresa’s mind associated taking risks with pain. Her ego had programmed her to believe that all emotional and physical risks, to some extent, would result in discomfort. Consequently, Teresa became paralyzed, avoiding risks in life that would lead to personal growth. Unbeknownst to her, that moment on the swing became a breakthrough, and we continued our work together to heal and transform her life – a transformation that impacted both of us.
Taking the risk to trust my intuition has revealed a great deal about my own healing, self-discovery, growth, and transformation. To be honest, it hasn’t been easy. During this journey, I painfully ended a 20-year marriage, summoned the courage to establish a heart-centered spiritual healing practice, and authored a book. Over the years, I have continued to take risks and trust my intuition, surrendering to the unknown and creating a life guided by high vibrational energy. Developing and trusting our inner knowing connects us to our higher selves, enabling us to truly live to the fullest.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation in the wellness field has been built organically, evolving as a personal means of coping and self-care. When I experience frustration, I turn to meditation. When my energy feels off, I practice Reiki on myself. In moments of anxiety, deep breathing brings me back to center. To shift energy quickly, I engage in physical movement. When uncertainty arises, I rely on my intuition. These practices have become deeply integrated into my being, shaping an authentic and aligned lifestyle.
Each morning, I dedicate myself to Kundalini yoga, meditation, breathwork, and nourishing my body with high vibrational foods. By living and embodying these practices, I am in tune with the ebb and flow of my own journey, allowing me to authentically connect with others.
Embodying my practices and living a lifestyle aligned with wellness has been instrumental in building my reputation. It has created a ripple effect as others witnessed the benefits and felt inspired to explore these practices for themselves. Through word-of-mouth recommendations, my connections expanded, allowing me to share my knowledge and help more individuals on their own wellness journeys.
Growing my wellness practice has been built through the organic process of embodying and living the practices that have personally helped me. By openly sharing my experiences and teaching others, I have cultivated a reputation based on authenticity, positive transformation, and the genuine connection I foster with those around me.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I believe that consistent practice is one of the most crucial elements for succeeding in the wellness field. The saying “practice makes perfect” holds true in this context. Engaging in regular practice allows for the fine-tuning of our skill and deepening of expertise.
For instance, in my journey with Reiki, I have found that the more I dedicate myself to the practice, the more I become intimately familiar with the flow of energy. Through regular practice, I have developed a heightened sensitivity to the subtle nuances and variations within the energetic field. When working with clients, this enhanced sensitivity becomes invaluable. It enables me to pick up on the unique nuances of their energy, facilitating a more profound and personalized healing experience. By continually honing my skills through consistent practice, I have gained the ability to read energy patterns, identify blockages, and offer targeted interventions.
Consistent practice also deepens connection with oneself and the modalities we use. It cultivates a sense of presence, intuition, and attunement to the needs of clients. Practice not only refines the technique but also expands the capacity to hold space for others and offer genuine support.
For me, consistent practice manifests success. It allows me to refine my skills, develop a deep connection with my modalities, and attunes me to the unique needs of my clients.
