Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dina Michele. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
This is always a fun question to answer. So the beginning of this journey was actually sparked by GloRilla. I was in the process of creating my craft business and was trying to hone in on my target audience. GloRilla’s song F.N.F. was viral at the time and I loved how it brought Black women together and we were having fun with it. I had already created the BlackFollowTrain earlier in the year, and thought that her song would be a great source to start a follow train specifically for Black women.
I woke up at 4 in the morning, cut the video together, and made it happen. It was going viral by the end of the day and that’s how my brand and business got a huge level of exposure. I was also able to help tens of thousands of other women like me which was the best part.
Now that I’m a mom, I’m shifting my gears into the momfluencer world, but my goals are still the same. To create a safe space for women and now mommies to thrive.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been a creative since birth thanks to my grandmother and namesake, Michele. I spent a lot of time with her growing up and she always had me in some creative hobby. Whether it was reading, crocheting, jewelry making, doing puzzles, crosswords, you name it, she had me in it.
I grew up loving being creative to express myself as a result and it’s something I still enjoy doing at 28 years old. I’ll probably be a creative my entire life just like she is.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
*Trigger Warning Pregnancy Loss* While one could say that I was at the height of my career, during the Black Girl Follow Train, I got pregnant, but that pregnancy unfortunately wasn’t viable. As a result, I turned down so many opportunities to grown my brand and business and I had to heal and grieve.
As I got back on my feet, I was fortunate to get pregnant again, but this time around I was so sick I had to take a step back again.
While pregnant I was terrified that I had missed my moment, but here I am two months postpartum making it happen for myself and now my family.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I used to believe that success meant a nonstop grind. I’ve overworked myself so many times at different points of my career and now I prioritize rest.
The point of all of this is to enjoy it and so many of us let our lives and victories pass us by because we never take the time to celebrate and enjoy them.
