Dijana, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

At DM Global Consulting, our mission is to empower foreign and U.S. companies, chambers of commerce, and other entities with the tools and strategies they need to thrive in the dynamic landscapes of the U.S., European, Middle Eastern, and Asian markets. We are dedicated to fostering enduring positive change by meticulously analyzing organizational operations and devising tailored improvements and strategies within each client’s specific industry. I decided to start this company as an immigrant who moved to the U.S. in 2018 from Europe with a vision to bridge continents and connect people and businesses across the Atlantic. Our journey began with a commitment to facilitating seamless interactions between foreign and U.S. companies, chambers of commerce, and other entities seeking to navigate and prosper in the diverse markets of the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Rooted in the belief that collaboration knows no borders, we strive to build enduring bridges that transcend geographical boundaries, enabling our clients to achieve sustainable growth and success in their global ventures. Dijana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m the CEO and Founder of DM Global Consulting in Las Vegas, which collaborates with international and U.S. partners. In addition, I’m the Co-founder and President of the Strategic European American League in Nevada, a networking platform that connects businesses and associations in the U.S., Europe, and around the globe while also partnering with the major global trade associations, governments, and companies around the world. I love our Vegas community and I’m a member of the Vegas Chamber’s Executive Women’s Council and Nevada District Export Council and serve on the Board of Directors of the World Affairs Councils of Las Vegas as Vice President and also on the Women of Global Change – Las Vegas Chapter board. I work with the U.S. federal government – U.S. Department of Commerce/ International Trade Administration/ U.S. Commercial Service as the West Rural Export Center Director, responsible for Nevada, Southern California, and Hawaii, and as an International Trade Specialist covering 14 industries in Southern Nevada, from aerospace & defense, to ICT and healthcare.

In my former capacity, I spent nearly four years as Nevada Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration State Trade Expansion Program at the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development, helping Nevada businesses grow and expand in the international market and attracting foreign investors to Nevada. Under my leadership, the office received the U.S. President’s E-award, the highest recognition for a U.S. export service provider.
I was appointed in 2022 as the U.S. Business Ambassador of the Slovenian Business Club, and I was a candidate for an Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Nevada. I also serve on the board of directors of Biz Assembly, Nevada’s leading entrepreneurial support organization. With over 20 years of professional experience in the public and private sectors in Serbia, Slovenia, and the United Arab Emirates, while I was in Europe, I worked in Slovenia as a Program Manager and Consultant with the international organization Center of Excellence in Finance, leading Tax policy and administration and Leadership for managing reform programs. Back then, I built coalitions with over 40 governments worldwide, universities, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and other international organizations, supporting stronger public sector governance, capacity development in public financial management, and contributing to the economic growth programs in respective countries. I also worked for the Government in Serbia – Ministry of Finance and Customs Agency, overseeing bilateral, multilateral, and European Union-funded projects, cooperating with the World Customs Administration, World Trade Organization, and other international partners, engaging in strategic planning, contracting, and quality control of the European Commission programs on economic development and institution building. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Japanese and speak Serbian, Slovenian, and French. I was teaching Japanese for ten years in Serbia, love continuous education and I’m an alumna of the Arizona State University – Thunderbird Executive Education in Global Trade Development. In Las Vegas, whenever I have some time, I guest teach at the Clark County School District and volunteer at the district and my kids’ soccer clubs. The power of community means the world to me and I enjoy helping Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club recruit foreign soccer clubs for the Mayor’s Cup – International Showcase.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

Winning the Green Card Lottery through the U.S. Department of State Diversity Program was a transformative moment that prompted me to pivot from a successful career in Slovenia. Previously, I had been immersed in the dynamic environment of an international organization, enjoying the privileges of diplomatic status in one of Europe’s most developed countries. However, upon arriving in Nevada, I found myself starting a new chapter as an administrative professional in a government agency. The transition was stark – from the familiar comforts and prestige of my former career to navigating the challenges of a different bureaucratic landscape. Yet, this journey was more than a career shift; it was a personal commitment to embrace change, pursue opportunities, and build a new foundation in the United States. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and the invaluable experience of starting from scratch to carve out a meaningful path in a new homeland. This pivot has shaped my perspective at DM Global Consulting, fueling my passion to help others navigate similar transitions and achieve their aspirations across borders.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?

At DM Global Consulting, fostering strong client relationships and maintaining brand loyalty are foundational to our approach. We prioritize regular communication through various channels tailored to our clients’ preferences and needs.
