We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Die’Stancia Roberts a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Die’Stancia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
So happy Canvas Rebel reached out, I’m Die’Stancia Roberts Owner of World Wide Hustling and Miracles By Die’Stancia. Born and raise in Houston, Texas Graduated from Paul Mitchell The School Houston cosmetology school. I study hair color, hair cuts, and also makeup. After graduating from cosmetology school I got hired at Tune Up Manly Salon within two months of being an receptionist the owner promoted me to assistant manger. With learning everything I can about the business I fell in love with the company, great company and great pay. Every job has its flaws I started to fall out of love with working at the company. When you start to forget your dreams and everything that you desire your purpose its time to refocus. I always wanted to be known as a famous artist I wanted to feel important the more I realized I was trap in my mind and my time was coming to an end I started to manifest write down my dreams and goals. When my time was up the nervousness of knowing I have to leave and if I do quit my job my bills would need to be paid not only that I was scared and confused. God finally guided me to make the choice of leaving in Feb 2020. All the plans I had made as an upcoming celebrity makeup artist started to fall apart because of the Covid19 break out. Once the lock down began I went back to the drawing board to figure out how I can make money when my bills were due. Everyone needed their hair done and not only the only beauty supply store that was near us was open so it made it easy for me to access. My clientele started to grow as I got good at doing Locs I decided to specialize in it at becoming the best. Starting from doing hair at my home i’m now in my very own shop located near the Galleria. September 17 2022 will make a year of being there. I’m so happy to be in my own space and take a risk on my dream. Sometimes it’s hard but thinking about how I was a part of growing another business and it flourished I can do the same. I’m an Upcoming Celebrity Loc stylist

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Miracles By Die’Stancia brand was built in September 2017, starting off as an upcoming makeup artist was a struggle getting people to believe in me. Of course I started off like any other makeup artist promoting and practicing. Social media will be your biggest platform and also word of mouth. Doing specials on holidays scored me with great clientele. Finally getting a shot at a fashion show behind the scenes of local designers in the near Houston, Texas area. I became the It Girl in the fashion show world everyone wanted me as their makeup artist! Scoring my first Celebrity Model/Hostess who has worked with many other A-list Celebrities. Working with my first Celebrity Model I got to achieve my first bill board with doing her makeup/hair and also the behind the scenes of watching her work made me inspired. I can achieve anything and I am manifesting my dreams. As I transitioned over to being an upcoming Celebrity Loc stylist it was a little different trying to build my clientele can be hard. Trusting someone with your hair is a spiritual journey so getting clientele to come to you would be word of mouth and building a relationship with your customers. Even though not one Celebrity has hopped in my chair i’m still praying on it. 2 years in the game i’m still growing and getting better.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Not Believing in myself is something big I had to unlearn, learning to be confident in my work. Once I work on myself and my value of knowing I work hard and I know I will achieve it became easy well with hard work lol. You have to work hard on yourself learning affirmations that are going to stick with you. ” I am going to make it, No weapon form against me shall prosper, i’m following my dreams”. You start to believe what you speak over your life.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Growing clientele can be tricky, learning your audience is the key. Follow these steps even when you’re tired of doing it because there will be times when you want to give up. The first step is to stay consistent at whatever your doing If your online posting three times a days, and if you need to take a break let your audience know and make sure you promote hard before you take your break. Step two learn your audience, write down what type of people you would want in your chair or the people you would want to do business with pray about it and do the work with showing your authentic self the ones that gravitate to you keep those customers/business partner. Step three never give up on your plan study your agenda and dominate it.
