Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Diego Pavoni. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Diego thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
On the third generation of hairstylists in the family, I am from Brazil, and I have been doing hair for almost 18 years now. 4 years ago, I decided that I would try a new path, move to the United States of America.
20 years ago, I had the opportunity to spend a couple months in Florida, and since I was back to Brazil, I was always wondering, how life would be if I move? 13 years later I decided it was the time. In Brazil, I was at the highest point of my carrer before I moved, running a hair salon with 80 employees, working with the consistant clientele, traveling all over the country teaching classes, but at the same time, I needed something new.
When I moved to the US, two months before the Pandemic started, I went back to school. In the USA, to do hair, I needed a cosmetology license, so I decided that would be the best path to learn more and also have the opportunity to be licensed in the USA. After concluding the program, with my license in hands, I got an opportunity to work on a hair product company present in over 4o countries based in Santa Monica Downtown.
Today I am an artist for that company, and I travel to different states of the country teaching classes in English, doing social media Lives, and present on most of the photoshoots with the Marketing team, creating and signing looks on models for flyers and posters of the company, all over the world.
This is the beggining of a exciting path that I have been building with a lot of focus, determination and dedication.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hairstyling is in the blood as many people say. Mom and dad, and other 5 hairstylist in the family, I decided that would follow the steps of my family when I was 18 years old. Always hunger to learn, I took improvement classes in New York, Los Angeles, London and lost count of how many classes in my country.
In the begging of my career, I had the opportunity to work behind the scenes of fashion events, like SPFW.
In love with education, I started to share content on social media where I was able to grow considerably fast.
Today, I am specialized in hair color and cut, helping clients to find their best version, always aiming the health of the hair.
I am the type of hairstylist that will say NO if the hair has enough structure for the chemical process the client is desiring.
After the consultation with her, I will refer treatments for her hair to prepare it before proceeding with any chemical process.
Also, my client is going to learn everything about how to take care of her hair at home, from the shampoo to the sun and heat exposure, what steps she/he should take to get the best quality possible. I am their hair consultant.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Influencing people and helping them to get to their goals easily is the most rewarding aspect I can picture. We all are going to drive thought dirt roads during our path, sharing the shortcuts with the audience is going to create a special place on their hearts and mind. boil
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
During the almost 15 years I was living in Brazil and thinking about moving to the US, life took me to a amazing way, where I was growing professionally, achieving the goals I had in my mind on that reality, and even providing great experiences. That was not enough.
I wanted to create something bigger, I wanted to share my thoughts with more people, different cultures, and also provide a safer home for my family.
It was not easy to leave everything that I have built behind, and go back to school, to get to a different stage.
Everything was extremely uncertain, but I had a lot of faith inside me that helped me go thought the whole program, during the Pandemic, and then getting my license and work with a company that allowed me to live in the US.
