We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Didi Rio. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Didi below.
Hi Didi, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I started making stupid videos on Snapchat when I was around 12 years old, and now at almost 21 I’m still making those stupid videos and it feels pretty great. I don’t remember a time in my life when creating something funny didn’t feel like it was exactly what I should be doing.
Didi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I make short form comedy videos on the internet and in doing so I hope to make large amounts of people smile, because it makes me smile a large amount. I’d say that letting God take control is the perfect one way ticket to writing a joke freely. Nothing I do feels like it comes from my own head. I’m so grateful that I get to walk out this journey with God.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There was a time in my life around last year when I didn’t feel as motivated when creating. So I took everything I enjoyed and surrendered to God. I didn’t need any of it if it wasn’t what he wanted for me. That was the moment I felt his presence more than I ever had and he overflowed me with everything I did need to continue being a comedic boy.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think you should tap into what you enjoy and that might bring you some guidance on what you’re good at. I don’t think creativity is teachable but it is discoverable. Just search yourself and pray about what might be in store for you.
