We were lucky to catch up with Didi Paulini recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Didi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
As the director and producer of Transcendence, my inspiration for this project originates from my personal journey and experiences. I grew up in Brazil, a predominantly Catholic country, and came out as a member of the lesbian community at nearly 30 years old. Moving to the USA with my girlfriend, who later became my wife, and having our wedding officiated by Andi, a trans pastor, was a transformative experience for us. Andi’s story, along with the inclusive nature of our ceremony, motivated me to create a film that showcases the beauty and acceptance of transgender individuals. My goal is to inspire others in similar situations to embrace their true selves and to highlight the positivity and resilience of the transgender community.
Transcendence is a documentary that follows the lives of seven transgender individuals, capturing their personal journeys of self-discovery, struggle, and triumph. This project is more than just a film; it is a call for empathy, a celebration of resilience, and a step toward greater visibility and understanding. Coming from a culture where LGBTQ+ rights are still heavily contested, I know firsthand how powerful representation can be. My personal story fuels my dedication to this project because I have witnessed the transformative impact of acceptance and inclusivity. By amplifying the voices of transgender individuals, Transcendence hopes to create a space where others can see themselves reflected, feel empowered, and know they are not alone.
Didi , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Didi Paulini, and I am a creative producer, director, and entrepreneur dedicated to storytelling that sparks conversation, representation, and transformation. My journey into filmmaking and creative production has been shaped by a deep passion for narratives that challenge norms and amplify diverse voices. Originally from Brazil, I am doing my MFA in Digital Filmmaking from Georgia State University, and I have finished additional film and business education that has fueled my career in both creative and strategic roles.
My career spans across various forms of media, including feature films, documentaries, web series, commercial campaigns, exhibitions, and digital experiences. Over the years, I’ve worked with major brands such as Coca-Cola, Boticário, and Brahma, and produced content across multiple formats—from music videos for top artists to award-winning podcasts and immersive exhibitions like the Formula 1 50th Anniversary Exhibition in Brazil.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge creative storytelling with strategic execution. I don’t just create content; I design experiences that leave an impact, whether it’s through thought-provoking documentaries, engaging branded content, or innovative digital platforms. My expertise in production, project management, and brand development allows me to bring ambitious creative visions to life while ensuring they are executed at the highest level.
I specialize in developing and producing high-quality visual content for film, digital media, and live experiences. My work spans:
Film & Documentary Production: Bringing compelling, socially relevant stories to the screen with a cinematic approach.
Branded Content & Commercial Campaigns: Creating strategic and emotionally engaging storytelling for brands.
Digital & Experiential Media: Designing immersive projects that blend audiovisual storytelling with technology, such as e-Teatro WeDo!, a gamified digital theater platform.
Creative Strategy & Development: Consulting and leading creative projects from concept to execution, ensuring they align with audience engagement and business goals.
Among my proudest achievements is the creation of Transcendence, a documentary that explores the resilience and beauty of transgender individuals. This project is deeply personal to me, inspired by my own experiences growing up in a conservative culture and later finding acceptance in my own identity. It represents the kind of work I strive to create—stories that foster empathy, visibility, and social change.
Additionally, I’m passionate about democratizing access to culture and education through innovative projects like my platform developed in Brazil “e-Teatro WeDo!”, where I use technology to break barriers and make the arts more inclusive.
What I want potential clients, collaborators, and audiences to know is that my work is driven by purpose. Whether it’s a film, an interactive experience, or a brand campaign, my goal is always to create something meaningful—something that moves people, challenges perspectives, and contributes to a more inclusive world.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by a mission to tell meaningful and entertaining stories that inspire, spark curiosity, and offer moments of escape. Whether through film, digital media, or theater, I want to create experiences that move people, make them think, and even provide a relaxing break from their daily lives. While I value diversity and representation, my main goal is to craft engaging narratives that connect with audiences on an emotional level, leaving a lasting impact.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Society can best support artists and a thriving creative ecosystem by investing in accessible funding opportunities, providing fair pay for creative work, and valuing the arts as an essential part of culture and education. Governments, businesses, and communities should create more grants, sponsorships, and tax incentives to help creatives sustain their work. Education systems should prioritize arts programs, encouraging young talent from an early age. Audiences also play a key role—supporting independent films, theater, music, and digital content helps artists continue creating. Ultimately, a thriving creative ecosystem happens when art is seen not just as entertainment, but as a vital force for storytelling, connection, and cultural growth.
