Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dianne Porchia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Dianne, thanks for joining us today. Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
One of the most impactful healing experiences I witnessed with a client was with a 30 year old married mother Becca with 3 year old child. Becca’s husband Cody was the person who first reached out to me on behalf of his wife, writing,
“My wife has a chronic / end-stage lung disease. She has 3 autoimmune diseases that has caused this disease plus many other health problems. Do you have any availability for an appointment?”
Becca received a life altering-medical diagnosis which necessitated an abrupt family move from their home and families in Louisiana to live within a close driving radius of the Houston Methodist Hospital for an emergency lung transplant.
“I’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain,” thought Becca, and so began, her story of healing and work with Dianne Porchia.
I worked with Becca for many months, accessing deeper levels of her heart, soul and subconscious levels, addressing and healing childhood events, limiting beliefs and hurt. Through this deep healing work, Becca gained new understanding about her family dynamics and learned to embrace Self-love and compassion which had been blocking her emotional heart and physical healing. In addition, I gave Becca diaphragmatic breathing exercises, which to my surprise I learned that her pulmonary doctors had never prescribed, and guided visualizations to further anchor her mind-body connection.
“The healing and growth that has occurred within me over the last year while working with Dianne is miraculous. Leaning into my divine Self has transformed not only my physical body, but my spiritual body,” Becca explains. I’ve learned to work with grace in unlearning behaviors that no longer serve me. How to honor and trust my process of healing and practice new self-honoring behaviors.”
“This journey is just beginning, and I am so grateful that I have Dianne along for this beautiful experience,” says Becca. “I truly believe I am still alive today because of the healing work Dianne Porchia has guided me through,”
After about one year, Becca’s scans show her lung condition is stable and therefore, she no longer needs to be on a lung transplant list! Becca and her family can now a normal life of traveling away from their Houston home to visit family and friends back in Louisiana, go on vacations, spend time in Nature and pursue career goals.
Becca and Cody have traveled to California to work with me in person at private retreats in Topanga Canyon twice so far. Becca’s healing story is a powerful one. She now has career goals to educate herself in PorchiasWISH Method and become a facilitator of healing for other people
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Dianne Porchia and I’m the spiritual therapist and holistic stress reduction specialist featured in HEAL Documentary (Amazon Prime Video), for my successful healing work with an advance stage cancer client who remains cancer free after a stage IV colorectal cancer diagnosis. I’ve been in private practice since 2001, and work effectively remotely with people from all walks of life, cultures, and religious backgrounds from around the world.
What sets my unique holistic approach apart from other therapists is many things, including the fact that I am very much grounded in traditional and new psychology therapeutic tools and techniques that is relatable to the general public. Plus, I am skilled in masterfully accessing deeper levels of heart-soul and subconscious levels, which is where true healing takes place and not in the intellectual mind where all the protection mechanisms and survival strategies from childhood originated and were imprinted in the subconscious.
I also teach heart-soul centered communication skills based on spiritual principles of living and loving consciously for health, wellness, happinesss and success. PorchiasWISH Method is truly unique and powerful.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn in my life and career was the limiting belief that I wasn’t smart enough or focused enough.
Growing up in a middle class working family, with parents that never went to college and who divorced when I was fifteen years old, I never received life and career guidance to steer me in the direction of college. My family on both sides only saw my future as far as getting married and having children. In high school I experienced teacher strikes during my junior and senior years, councilors weren’t available and I slipped through the cracks of the educational system. I left my broken home at the age of 16, and continued high school through graduation, although always feeling like an outsider. I fumbled around with odd jobs in order to pay $20 per month for room rent in my older brother’s house shared with Viet Nam veterans and rode a little motorcycle for transportation.
I landed my first real job at age 17, working as a receptionist for a Beverly Hills divorce attorney’s law firm, and rode my motorcycle over the Benedict Canyon to work each day. This is where I also met the first love of my life, Kenny, who I quickly moved in with for four years. We were in love, and I was young and bored stiff. Becoming a paralegal was a possibility and my boss even offered to pay for my education. However, I felt trapped in a dismal future of office work, white picket fence, child rearing and no opportunity for me to express my creative nature.
I left my boyfriend which broke both our hearts and I left my job in search for new stimulating experiences and enrolled in a junior college with the goal of becoming an art and dance therapist. Needing a part-time job, I found a trainee position in a small interior design firm who after six months offered me a full time job. No more goal of art-dance therapy, however, interior design became a ten year career interspersed with modeling on the side.
All this jumping around in different things that caught my interest led me to believe that I was incapable of focusing on one thing at a time. I thought my live would be a series of scattered abilities and master of nothing, which further cemented my limiting belief that I wasn’t smart enough.
Decades later with 23 years of focused attention in my current field of work, and working successfully with thousands of people from all over the world, I can look back on my varied history and see how each experience and meaningful relationship in my life has contributed in important ways to support my holistic approach to healing.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than professional training and experiential learning, the most important thing for success if to believe in your heart-felt guidance and intuition. The mind and intellect can sometimes get in the way of fulfillment and happiness in one’s life.
In my PorchiasWISH™ Holistic Healing Approach, I teach heart-soul centered communication skills that are never taught in school, rarely taught at home and not addressed by traditional cognitive behavioral therapy. One of the two important communication tools that I developed to help my clients learn these communication skills is the 9 Traps of Unconscious Loving, which are all based on spiritual principles of health, wellness and living consciously.
The 9 Traps of Unconscious Loving are nine traps of miscommunication that people fall into unknowingly out of habit. Trap #1: Expecting the Other Person To Be A Mind Reader, which so many people can relate to. Trap #7: Power Struggles Between Ego / Mind and Heart / Soul. This principle to health, wellness and happiness is to follow one simple strategy: “Let your heart lead the way, while heeding the wisdom of your mind. Let the mind be used as a tool in service to the heart.”
