Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dianne Miley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dianne, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
To write novels, I first subscribed to Writers Digest magazine. Reading the articles and buying books on writing taught me much about the craft of fiction writing. I took a continuing education class at our local community college and was referred to a local writers group. I joined the group and the authors there were instrumental in teaching me tips and tricks on writing novels. We read one another’s manuscripts and offered suggestions. I’ve also attended many writers conferences and online workshops. Reading fiction and watching movies with an eye for story also help tremendously. Since I write Christian fiction, I later joined American Christian Fiction Writers, a national organization. Local chapter meetings, networking with other authors, and writers conferences help hone my skills. I also subscribe to several blogs that teach novel writing.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a creative, I’ve always loved to write and imagine stories. In high school, I took creative writing classes and was hooked! Since a bachelor’s degree wasn’t an option for me, I took creative writing classes at my local community college. Reading Writers Digest magazine taught me how to get published, and after writing my first manuscript, I sent submissions to three publishers. To my great surprise, one of them offered me a publishing contract!
My first book is inspirational non-fiction titled Time to Enjoy Your Blessings. Readers learn how to simplify their lives, get organized, and prioritize God, family, and others. The biblical world view provides a unique perspective. Continuing this Christian viewpoint, I began writing inspirational fiction in The Crystal Falls series of romantic suspense. Titles include: Lilacs for Laura, Roses for Rachel, Violets for Vanessa, and Sunflowers for Sarita. Each story stands alone while offering connected characters for the series lover. Small town charm and family saga carry through the stories with romance, mystery, and suspense. These stories share the message that God loves you, no matter what!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Sharing God’s love and grace drives my mission to provide wholesome entertainment that the reader can feel good about while learning to grow in faith and trust God.
