We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dianne Mattina a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dianne , thanks for joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Earths Water was created to heal the water. Knowing that if we can take gratitude to elements of the earth we could in turn have a greater understanding to be able to speak differently to ourselves and heal. After having a conversation with our healing community of friends we wanted to create a give back to our community and chose to gather to heal the water. We picked a day to gather to heal the water by setting an intension of healing for it and giving it gratitude. The first gathering that morning as the day started there it was a pit in my stomach for me was a defining moment. See I thought this gathering of people and setting the intension was going to lead by other people, more of a group effort. The pit in my stomach was that feeling you and you alone are going to lead this group. That sent me in a tail spin of course denying the fact is it really going to lead by me. Up until that first morning I had no idea that this healing the water was an energy I could take on. It was certain that I could just dismiss these feelings and leave for the event. Ignoring this feeling was my solution.
The event was very successful even with my apprehensions. People gathered we came together to take some moments to give gratitude to the water.
Having a understanding is powerful like me most people want to dismiss what is happening. looking back not having any ideas what Earth’s Water would bring to my future. Five years later I can still remember how that pit in my stomach felt like.
Dianne , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Thank you for asking about my background. As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend has provided you with a safe haven to care for others. The nickname your dear grandfather gave you, “Florina,” meaning flowering and flourishing, seems to have foreshadowed the path you would eventually follow.
In my teen years I was passionate about being around flowers and plants. Design was always my way of life, rearranging plants and flowers to furniture around the home. In college I studied interior design. Opening a retail interior design business in the late 80s allowed me to express my creative design skills while also discovering a deeper purpose. When I worked with clients, I began to realize that their desire for change in their homes often seamed from a need for something beyond design. My clients sought healing, whether it was finding their voice, overcoming challenges or seeking happiness.
With my design projects, I recognized that the decision-making process and the design of clients homes could help with emotional healing. The choices made in selecting new paint, arranging furniture, or finding the perfect chair were not merely about what they liked but also about supporting clients’ journeys towards healing, one step or one emotion at a time.
Healing is something that has always intertwined with my life. Having compassion and empathy for humanity has always been inside of me. Wither your my family or friends needs something I have an understanding to be there to support them or perhaps just give them a listening ear. Really I believe healing found me it’s just taken me sometime to recognize the gift of healing.
Now, my focus has shifted to healing the water, taking center stage in my life by founding Earth’s Water. By dedicating an hour each month in a local park, we acknowledge something greater than ourselves—the significance of gratitude for the water. Every day, I try to recognize opportunities to connect with people, whether they are familiar faces or strangers in a grocery line. Understanding the power of finding connections, just as streams flow into rivers, rivers into the ocean, and the ocean touches every continent—everything is interconnected.
Recently I experienced a serendipitous encounter on an airplane, where you struck up a conversation with a fellow passenger who turned out to be a good friend of my neighbor
. This reminder of interconnectedness reinforced the importance of seeking and nurturing connections in every interaction.
What makes me proud is when individuals can take time for themselves and engage in the healing process. In today’s fast-paced world, many people overlook the need to pause and reflect. However, those who can express gratitude and acknowledge the earthly connection to water experience an indescribable element of healing.
My journey is a testament to the profound impact that personal connections, compassion, and gratitude can have on our lives and the world around us. By recognizing the interconnectedness of all things and embracing the gift of healing.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In recent years, I have embarked on a transformative journey, exploring a new path that has allowed me to experience personal growth. Throughout this process, I have encountered various challenges, particularly in relation to people’s perceptions and understanding of the fundamental aspects of healing the water.
One of the significant hurdles in my journey has been dealing with the opinions of others. However, I have learned the importance of remaining steadfast in my beliefs and understanding that their lack of comprehension stems from their own limited perspective. By embracing this understanding, I have been able to rise above and maintain my commitment to healing the water.
In the face of inquiry, I have found solace in accepting and loving what others do not know. It is crucial to recognize that everyone possesses unique experiences and knowledge, and not everyone will grasp the significance of healing the water or the methods employed. By choosing love and acceptance, I have been able to foster understanding and compassion within myself, while nurturing a sense of patience when confronted with skepticism.
The Earth’s Water cannot heal the water be achieved in isolation. It is a collective effort that requires the unity and collaboration of communities. Throughout my journey, I have witnessed the transformative power of bringing people together in a shared purpose. By gathering a community dedicated to healing the water, we have not only strengthened our collective impact but also established a space for intention-setting. Taking the time to express gratitude and set positive intentions for the water has proven to be an influential catalyst for change, not only in the external environment but also within ourselves.
There are also individuals who recognize and celebrate the significance of our contributions to the world. These individuals take the time to applaud the concept of healing Earth’s Water and appreciate the positive impact it has on our planet and ourselves. Celebrating these achievements and receiving recognition for our efforts reinforces our determination and encourages us to continue making a meaningful mark on the world.
Earth’s Water has been characterized by personal growth, overcoming obstacles, and fostering community collaboration. By rising above, embracing love and acceptance, and harnessing the power of intention and gratitude, I have found resilience and purpose in my pursuit. While challenges persist, the support of like-minded individuals and the acknowledgment of our contributions inspire us to persevere, knowing that we are making a significant difference in the world.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Unlearning the traditional business mindset required a shift in perspective. Earth’s Water provides our community with this practice—a way of connecting and healing.
Through this unlearning process, we discovered that Earth’s Water was not merely about developing a product or service but about fostering a deep connection with the environment and inspiring others to join in this mission. Earth’s Water was founded to creating a space for people to come together, collaborate, and contribute to heal the water and oneself.
Earth’s Water gathers the community to give gratitude for the water each month circling in intension is an experience for the community. Earth’s water provides awareness and makes a meaningful impact. We me to focus on the practice of healing, intention-setting, and gratitude, understanding that these intangible elements were at the core of our mission.
Earth’s Water could not be fit into the confines of traditional business concepts. Instead, the nature of our purpose and the power of connecting and healing as the driving force behind our organization. This unlearning process taught me the value of thinking beyond conventional norms, embracing the unconventional, and recognizing the profound impact of community practices on both ourselves and the world we seek to heal.
