We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Diane Marie a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Diane Marie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
A Path Lit by Love
Growing up, I was blessed with two guiding lights: my mother and father. Together, they shaped the person I am today—not just with words, but with quiet strength, steady patience, and a love that never wavered.
My parents taught me the difference between right and wrong—not by scolding, but by showing. I watched them treat people with kindness, patience, and respect, and so I learned to do the same. They showed me that being proud of who you are isn’t arrogance—it’s quiet confidence. It’s taking care of yourself, loving who you see in the mirror, and standing tall even when life feels heavy.
My father, especially, became my guide when it came to work and responsibility. As a child, he brought me into his business world—not to watch from the sidelines, but to understand. He taught me that work mattered, that earning money had value, that effort meant something. He paid me for my time, not because he had to, but because he wanted me to know the worth of my hands, my heart, and my mind.
Education was never just about books—it was about choices. My parents helped me see that every decision mattered. They didn’t make my choices for me; instead they asked why I chose the things I did, helping me think, helping me grow. They showed me that once you make a decision, you stand by it. That’s what strength looks like.
Because of them—because of the quiet lessons, the firm guidance, the endless love—I am proud of who I am. I listen to others. I care for myself. I believe in my worth. And I walk the path they lit for me, knowing that every step is one they helped me take.
Thank you, Mom and Dad.

Diane Marie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
About Me
With over 35 years of dedication to the world of aesthetics, my journey has been one shaped by both passion and purpose. It all began with my studies in health and wellness during college, where I developed a deep understanding of the human body, well-being, and the importance of self-care from the inside out.
That foundation soon expanded into the artistic world of theatrical makeup, where I learned to see the face as a canvas — blending beauty with creativity, expression, and confidence. Over time, I found joy in combining both of these worlds: nurturing not just outer beauty but supporting a sense of balance, care, and total well-being for each person I served.
One of the great blessings of my career was the opportunity to work closely with a remarkable mentor who took me across the country to major trade shows and advanced training seminars. These experiences opened new doors, allowing me to refine my techniques, explore the newest innovations in skincare, and earn multiple certifications in the most advanced aesthetic practices.
For years now, I have been honored to run my own aesthetics practice in my beautiful seaside community — a place where the ocean’s calm and natural beauty reflect the care I strive to give to every client. Here, no one is ever “just a number.” Every person who walks through my door is unique, deserving of personalized attention, thoughtful service, and treatments designed to uplift both skin and spirit.
My mission is simple: to help people feel radiant, confident, and well — not only on the surface but in the way they carry themselves every day. Whether it’s through customized skincare, gentle touch, or simply offering a peaceful space for rest and renewal, I believe in supporting the whole person.
After three and a half decades in this ever-evolving field, my love for aesthetics — and for the people I serve — remains as strong as ever.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best and most consistent source of new clients for my business has always been referrals. My existing clients- hardworking women and men-are the heart of my practice. Their trust, loyalty, and the real results they experience inspire them to confidently refer their colleagues, friends, and family members to me.
There is no greater compliment then having a client share their positive experience with others, and it’s this word- of-mouth connection that continues to grow and sustain my business in the most authentic and meaningful way.

Any advice for managing a team?
Managing my team at the day spa is rooted in creating a positive, uplifting environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. I believe in leading with trust, fostering a sense of camaraderie, and emphasizing that teamwork truly makes the dream work. I keep morale high by encouraging continued education and professional growth, ensuring that each team member feels confident, skilled and inspired.
Most importantly, I make it a priority to show appreciation regularly-whether through kind words, recognition, or small gestures-because when my team feels respected and supported, we all thrive together.
