We were lucky to catch up with Diane Lee recently and have shared our conversation below.

Diane, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?

As a business owner and floral designer, I always observe and maintain good business relationships with my clients by keeping constant communication with them, regardless of their business size. Take note of any special occasions that are important to clients, such as birthdays, anniversary, and holidays.
Sending a holiday gift with a greeting note is a way to bring joy to every client by displaying your thoughtfulness and appreciation as their vendor or provider. Sending clients electronic greetings with a personal note often has a positive impact.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

In every profession or business, I always believe and maintain my Transparency, Precision and Commitment to my clients. Good Professional Attitude speaks louder than whatever product anybody can sell.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

Treat your team as family and friends. When relating to your team, always treat them with respect especially when they are seniors. Never criticize a team member in front of any audience because it will have a morale effect on them. Always ask the team member to tell his side of the story before stating your comments. Give reward or compliments to your team after a task is done.
