We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diane Eberly. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diane below.
Diane, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.
In 2023, I’ve seen rise (and comeback) of vintage and retro style in architectural and interior design. Many clients are looking towards an updated Midcentury style, which includes plank paneling in their Living Rooms, exposed natural stained woods, quirky statement wallpapers, and leaning into colors such as blues and greens. A mixture of woods and extensive use of bold color truly can define the this style. However, these styles do collide with transitional, and tradition style interior design as well, creating a nice spin to a client’s own personal taste for their home.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, I’m Diane Eberly, founder of Eberly Interiors. I was born in Houston, TX. and raised in Conroe, TX., I knew I wanted to be in the interior design profession from the age of 7. I followed my father to his construction sites at Lake Conroe, visiting newly constructed homes and I knew that this was the path I wanted to take. I grew up constantly rearranging my room, searching through design magazines, and having my friends asked me for design advice.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design degree from the accredited Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. and moved to Houston upon graduating after accepting a position in healthcare and commercial architectural and interior design. After two years in healthcare and commercial design, I switched gears to residential home design – where I realized that intimate client relationships were ultimately the key to creating beautiful homes. This client relationship is vital to designing the heart and soul of a project and is important for me as a brand.
After 8 years of working at Houston-based interior design and architectural firms, I took on my most important role, and welcomed my daughter n October of 2021. Enjoying every moment of motherhood – I ultimately made the decision to resign from my latest firm after serving 6 years.
I knew I still had the itch to continue to design, but on my own terms. That’s when Eberly Interiors began to break ground in the fall of 2022.
I currently provide a variety of Interior Design services for new construction projects, remodels, finish selections, and drafting services for the Lonestar State and beyond.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
For the design industry, growing your clientele really comes down to “word of mouth” from past coworkers, friends, family, and business relationships. Social Media in the industry has also seen a giant boom the last few years as well, as some potential clients do like to use these platforms for their own design ideas.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of my work is seeing a project completed. It takes many steps to get to a finish product, and seeing the clients absolutely love their home is the ultimate achievement in the work I do.
