We recently connected with Diane Appleberry and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Diane thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The mission behind Grace & Glam Medical Spa is to make people feel more confident. There is nothing more beautiful than a person feeling empowered in their own skin. Our goal is never to make people look “overdone” or “fake.” The goal is to enhance people’s natural features so they look the age they feel.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I originally graduated with a degree in Finance from Miami University. Within a few years or working in the industry, I realized Finance was not my passion and made a career change into nursing. My mother is a physician and it was clear to me that medicine runs in my blood. I obtained a Masters in Nursing and worked at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for 8 years. During that time, I obtained my Nurse Practitioner’s license. While I was working at Childrens, my mother opened up Grace & Glam Medical Spa. The aesthetic industry always fascinated me, and once I gave birth to my third boy in three years, decided it was time to strike a better work-life balance by pursing my passion of being a provider at Grace & Glam. It has been a love story ever since and I’m eternally grateful I took the leap of faith into this role.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being honest, hands down. People can tell when they are being upsold or gimmicked. It’s a gut feeling. So we are honest to a fault, which can sometimes leave money on the table. People are always shocked when you aren’t trying to nickel and dime them and truly have their best interests at heart.
For example, I do not do temple filler. It’s a risky area to inject and I’d like to sleep at night. However, when clients come in wanting cheek filler but they have sunken temples- they will look off balanced if I give them cheek filler and we don’t fix the temple deficit. So I recommend them to different providers that offer those services. I lose money by not providing the cheek filler, but I’m doing the right thing for the client and ultimately they know that and will return for the honesty we provide.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Google has been our best source for new clients. We have really made an effort to get our clients to write Google reviews, and having that feedback out there has been a huge source of new client growth.
