Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Diana Woody. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Diana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I started doing art projects when I was a child as soon as I could pick up a pencil or paintbrush. My parents wanted me to pursue a medical career and I ended up in Physics. Although I pursued a scientific career, I always took art classes and worked on my art pieces. I have accumulated many works of art over the years and now that I have moved from the scientific career to an artistic career I have quite a collection of my art. I started posting the older pieces as well as my new art on my social media pages just to get an idea of what pieces people would like.. It’s aways interesting to see which of my pieces really resonate with people.
I often feel that I would have liked to have started my art career earlier than I did. But afterall, we are the sum total of our experiences so maybe I would have ended up a different person and not met the wonderful people I did if I had made different choices.

Diana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I spent a good deal of my life in the scientific industry for my occupation. I also pursued art and writing mostly as avocations. I have mostly written plays, short stories, and screenplays. I am currently turning my screenplays into radio plays which can be found on my YouTube page Atomic Cat Productions under the subtitle of Atomic Cat Radio Theatre. My website is atomiccatproductions.org where you can find my art, short stories, movies, and radio plays.
I was trained classically to make realistic art but I find my whimsical more abstract art pieces are the pieces that people like the best. Also, my art can be found on dianawoodyart.com.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In the past art and creative endeavors were supported by the wealthy people. It was recognized as a valuable aspect of our human experience. It might be nice to have artists/creatives sponsored like they were in past centuries.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the most rewarding part of being a creative is having created something concrete that can be viewed, read, watched, and enjoyed by people for generations to come. I really like the fact that something I create could possibly be relevant or amuse humans that haven’t even been born yet. If my creative endeavors last, they could potentially be a connection between me and the future. And if I am fortunate enough to have my creations remain relevant throughout the years that would be wonderful.
