We recently connected with Diana Sabreen and have shared our conversation below.
Diana, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always lived life differently from the masses. For most of my professional career I’ve been a photographer with side gigs as a mountain guide, experiential and empowerment educator, performer, producer, and builder of big art. All the while, I’ve made my own schedule and terms, and have spend much of my time traveling and exploring the world. I’ve followed my passions and my dreams – which gets me talking to a lot of people who are curious about following their Big Dreams.
After hearing “I wish I could do that” countless times, I’m now responding with, “You can. And this is how.”
The Big Dream helps people identify what their Big Dreams are, and to take the steps they need to to get there. The events I produce and coaching I provide helps people with the logistics on their path, as well as the emotional-spiritual journey.
I also think it’s really important to have a supportive community who doesn’t think you’re crazy for living the life you actually want to be living. A lot of The Big Dream’s focus is around building that community support through events, and our Facebook group, The Big Dream Collective.
The Big Dream is something I had been thinking about creating for a long time, but I had to go through my own journey to get there. I had already started it when the pandemic hit, but the world shutting down helped me focus inward, eliminate my excuses and distractions and finally do the thing! Which is exactly what I now help people do! The last couple of years has really showed us that we can re-evaluate our lives and create a new normal. This is the perfect time for people to create their Big Dreams.

Diana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I help people live the life they actually want to be living, rather than the one they think they “should” be living.
It can be pretty hard to move towards the things you want in life, and to make changes, especially if you don’t have a model for how it’s done. I offer coaching, consulting, events and community gatherings to help people move towards the life they want. I focus is on helping people live creatively and adventurously and most of my clients are people who are trying to live life a bit differently – creative entrepreneurs, digital nomads, adventurers, artists, or people aspiring to be these things.
We also focus on social change and creating something positive and empowering in the world. How can you create the change you want to see? How can you empower others to empower others and so on?
The Big Dream’s flagship event (coming up on June 26, 2022) is the Imagination Collaboration. It’s a one-day mini festival full of speakers, workshops, performers and immersive art. It’s an inspirational day for people to either just play, or to make big changes – or anywhere in between! There are scholarship opportunities as well so we can serve people that might need a bit of financial help.
The Big Dream has a Socially Regenerative model – we thrive by helping the people around us thrive, and vice versa.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
In my other careers, I kept the parts and pieces of myself somewhat separate in order to keep a professional impression. At this point, I’m just focused on being myself, and working with the people and projects that are in alignment with that. Entrepreneurship is hard, and if we can’t integrate all the parts of ourselves into what we’re doing, we likely won’t maintain the motivation to get through the hard bits. Professionalism doesn’t have to be sterile or look like any one thing. My professional brand is totally in alignment with who I am and what I want to create in the world, and that nourishes both me and my business. This is also a value I help my clients integrate with their businesses and lifestyles.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Since what I’m creating in this business is so personal, it’s important to me that everyone involved is really excited about being part of it. I think there are plenty of industries where this isn’t as important, but for The Big Dream, the whole goal is for people to be living in alignment with their Big Dreams. Working with The Big Dream has to be part of getting people towards their Big Dreams, or the partnership doesn’t really work. It’s very meta! It also keeps us all on our toes and really making sure we are putting out the thing we want to into the world, not something that is “almost” what we want to be doing. The people involved with The Big Dream are people who are trying to make the world more awesome, and that’s the vibe I like to empower and nourish for the people working with me.
