We recently connected with Diana Guintu and have shared our conversation below.
Diana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
I would like to share with you a customers success story.
Ruth outreached me shortly after the pandemic started. She was in a very bad place (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually). She felt like she had lost complete control of her life. She self-identified as a “DOORMAT” in her life, always putting everyone else needs before her own.
She enrolled in my 1:1 coaching program. She quickly started to prioritize her needs and well-being with a morning routine. She started to set boundaries and communicate her needs to her support system. She was surprised to learn that they were eager to assist and support her. Ruth went through my “Honoring Your Emotions” healing process where she was able to honor her pain from the past and rewrite the stories that no longer served her. As a result she was able to mend strained relationships and step into a new empowered version of herself.
“I’ve done a complete 180. I’m happy again, my relationships have improved, I’m full of energy, I kicked fear out the door, I went from 29% body fat to 17% in 16 weeks and I’m still going strong! The biggest change… I’m fully COMMITTED to my well being. Those who love me will support me and respect my new boundaries. Those who don’t will continue about their ways, but they will no longer have access to my energy. “-Ruth
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
It was ten years ago that I found myself in a place of transition. I was moving away from my counseling private practice and moving into the corporate coaching space. It was not a good time for me. I was in the worst physical and emotional space I had been in my adult life. I was burnt out, overwhelmed and so uncomfortable in my own skin. I was starting a new job and I had never felt so lost and scared about my future. One day I was sitting in a training room learning about chronic conditions and the facilitator shares a slide that says “9 Risks Factors” in red big letters. As he starts to go down the list, I start to realize that I am identifying with all the factors. I started to see myself on the slide. And maybe you can relate to a time where you have been doing all the things for all the people and you end up completely drained.
Have you ever taken a wrong turn on a one way street? And you are driving down the street and suddenly you realize you are going down the wrong way? You start to see cars coming at you. That moment right there is how I felt sitting in the training room. I was going the wrong way.
Maybe you are like me and you know you have to change but you don’t know HOW. I personally had to go through my own healing process of creating a new identity for myself. I was able to go into a deeper process of transformation more than just on the surface level. It has resulted in me creating a life not only where I am deeply connected with my kids and my passions but I am deeply connected with myself.
I am connected with who I truly am and have been able to embrace my passions as a speaker and author and a leader in a community of women. This will look different for everyone but I know one thing to be true, owning your ‘Empowered Identity’ is the only way to heal your past, discover your passions and walk into the life you’ve always wanted as a successful woman.
I am taking my 20 year experience as a licensed professional counselor and corporate coach to help professional women prioritize themselves without shame and guilt.
My clients go from feeling chaotic, overwhelmed, and burnt out to feeling confident and empowered. They are able to regain control of their emotions and have the clarity, peace and confidence to step into a new and empowered version of themselves.
I am available for 1:1 coaching through The Empowered Woman Experience three month container and my membership program, The Empowered Women’s Academy.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
There are a variety of strategies I use to grow my audience, but the one that is the most effective is showing up authentically, both with my online audience and with my current clients. There was a time that I felt insecure and doubtful about myself and I struggled to show up. It reallly affected my business. As a Mexican-American whose first language was spanish and where I grew up in poverty, I was insecure about how people would perceive me and my ability to help them on their healing journey.
After embarking in my own healing journey, I was able to break free from those limitations and internal lies. I don’t pretend to have all the answers or have it all together anymore. But what I do have is a formula that works and has been proven by countless other women. Healing is a journey that you are on as long as you are breathing. Having a guide you can trust to help you is just another piece of the puzzle, and I hope I am that for my clients. I want them to know the real me.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I come from a long line of women that have sacrificed themselves for the sake of their family. They have put aside their desires and needs to be 100% available to their family. As I look back at the women in my family, I am so grateful for this lesson. However, for me, I reached a point where I was couldn’t do it anymore. I was physically sick and emotionally drained. I knew that if I was going to live a more fulfilled life I had to take back my “I matter” card. I couldn’t ignore the call to follow my dreams and leave a larger imprint in this world.
Before I became a mother I had things I wanted to do but I had somehow lost sight of them. And I realize that there is a season of adjustment and some sacrifice when you first become a mom but I got stuck there. As someone who suffered from post-partum depression with both of my pregnancies, I can honestly say that continuing on that path, wasn’t going to serve anyone.
I had to go through a process of honoring my pain, reawaking my desires and then moving into a new and more empowered version of myself. Once I did this, I was able to step into the person I wanted to be. I am a better mom, better wife and better person in everything I do now because I am no longer trying to pour from an empty cup.
