We were lucky to catch up with Diana Gonzalez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Diana, thanks for joining us today. It’s easy to look at a business or industry as an outsider and assume it’s super profitable – but we’ve seen over and over again in our conversation with folks that most industries have factors that make profitability a challenge. What’s biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
One of the BIGGEST challenges I’ve encountered throughout the years I’ve been in business has been the competition. At first that made me feel like I didn’t had a chance to make it in the retail/fashion industry. However, I shook it off and focused on the end goal which was fullfiling my dreams and engaging with my ladies giving them the encouragement to get out of their comfort zone by dropping the latest fashionable jewelry trends.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I began the journey of Born2Slay Fashion Jewelry and Accessories in 2017 from the comfort of my home. I was very skeptical about moving forward with this business, but I knew it was the right time so I went for it.
It always has been a dream of mine to create a platform for women like myself that is ALWAYS on the go with children and don’t have spare time to shop for themselves. I have been in the industry for over four years. I love fashion I absolutely admire fashion designers like Emilio Pucci, Gabrielle Bonheur Coco Chanel, Karla Lagerfeld, amongst other well-known designers in the industry.
I was determined to invest my time, my love and all of me to be as successful as possible. Being in any type of business requires your time, attention, discipline and focus you will loose friends through this process as well which is unfortunate but that’s part of the challenge you face being an entrepreneur, you’re not going to have time to hangout.
I’m very accessible to my customers (which I call my Slayers) via email or even text, i try my hardest to execute in timely manner a solution to whatever the issue may be. Perhaps that may be part of the reason it sets me apart from any other businesses.
I am beyond proud of myself and how far I’ve been, I know I must apply more pressure to myself. To all my future slayers i would like to say (Come experience the most convenient affordable and fun way to shop with me, I personally select all of my pieces and work very hard to provide not only the BEST service but also the BEST Fashion Jewelry and Accessories.
I proudly offer the best deals on the market & fulfill every order with love and care.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Oh my! My very first lesson I had to learned was that any business no matter how big or small time is required as well as money attention.
Also that the grass is NOT always greener on the other side.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I try my hardest to be a perfectionist and to provide my all to others. To gain the respect of those who have somehow contributed to my success.
Always willing to assist with a smile on my face regardless of anything.
