We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diana Caruso. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diana below.
Diana, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Today I am sharing this article with you, because for some time now I have understood that the best way to live life is to live intentionally. “Risk is a step into the unknown, but also an immersion into a possible unknown success”, Lahcen Haddad.
History has taught us that those who dare nothing have nothing. In fact, history unfolds because there are men and women who take risks, try new things, think outside the box, challenge themselves and navigate the unknown. As Helen Keller said, “life is a bold adventure or nothing.”
I want to tell you, what have been some of the biggest challenges and risks I have taken in my life and the result of them.
About 3 years ago in 2020 (the year when the pandemic began) I was living in Peru with my husband and my oldest daughter, (who was just born) my husband was the only one in the family who worked since I had to take care of my little girl, without leaving aside the chaos that was living in the country, due to the sanitary emergency that was decreed, however, we were evaluating alternatives for me to be able to take care of my daughter; We were evaluating alternatives for me to have a job that would allow me to work from home and among the options we decided to become entrepreneurs creating a virtual baby clothing store, we had to do ourselves the website with some free tutorials that we found on the internet among many other training on how to run a business and make it known. At the same time, they contacted me from Bolivia (country where I also lived for four and a half years) to give me the opportunity to study to be certified as an Ontological Coach for that whole year and I decided to invest part of our savings to do it, because it was one of the goals I had set myself to achieve, while I continued with the virtual store in parallel and taking care of my little girl. I managed to finish it, but still the store could not take off as my husband and I expected. So 2021 came and approximately for the month of March my husband told me: why don’t we go to the United States to live, a very good childhood friend had proposed him to partner to start a food truck chain in the city of Miami, because he was doing very well and needed help, we sat down to talk about it and we decided to TAKE THE RISK.
O in August of the same year, we were landing in the city of Miami with our baby who was a few months away from her first birthday, our suitcases, dreams, goals and leaving behind a relatively comfortable life. With a lot of illusion, we started in the project but after 2 months we realized that this project was not designed for us, my husband worked until approximately three in the morning every day and me with the baby sometimes until one in the morning, and very little; we could rest and share with our little one because we were really exhausted. Together with my husband we decided to look for other options. It was not easy to have to start from scratch and this time in a country, city and culture unknown to us, but we decided to take the risk. We thought of creating a company in which both of us could dedicate ourselves to what we had studied and prepared for more than 12 years of our lives. I, as a graduate in Administration, Psychologist and certified as a Coach and passionate about everything related to Human Resources and my husband as an Engineer, but passionate about the world of Marketing, we decided to create our own company ANNGATALENTS developing in what we like and makes us happy and we have been in the market for more than 1 year, Additionally we have a yutube channel called POLARITY EIGHT where we talk about different topics that we are passionate about and among them how dreams, goals and desires can come true for ALL OF US, if we take massive action, we remain focused on achieving it and generating actions that help us make it happen. Today we are happy, every day looking for ways to reinvent ourselves from what each one of us has to contribute as a person, as a family and as entrepreneurs. Additionally, I also recently became the author of a collaborative book called MENTOR COACH creating my own method: The CARUZ METHOD©), together with several fellow coaches and mentors we tell from our stories how we can transform our reality through methods and tips to DECIDE TO DARE TO TAKE RISKS and get out of our comfort zone.
With a little piece of my story I wanted to tell you how taking risks and making mistakes is an opportunity to learn and look for opportunities that connect you with YOUR LIFE PURPOSE.
A successful entrepreneur always challenges himself by “choosing a task that is not too easy, but possible”.
If it were easy, everyone would understand and do it. But it must be possible: the entrepreneur is not a dreamer who fantasizes about an imaginary world, but a realistic visionary who steps out of his intellectual comfort zone to enter unexplored territories with circumspection and calculated moves. We take risks, we are careful people, who measure everything, even ordinary tasks before making decisions. Risk has to be calculated. As entrepreneurs we take into account the possibility of failure, but we strive to ensure that the risk is tolerable. Risk is our gateway to success, but it can also lead to failure. That’s why we try, as much as possible, to tilt it in our favor, mitigate it and establish a plan B in case plan A doesn’t work.
Now, I invite you to question yourself every day by asking yourself a few questions:
Are you a risk taker or a risk averse person? Where do you stand on risk?
I believe that in all the decisions we make in life we are using what I call “the balance of risks”; in all decisions we put on one side what we could win and on the other side we put what comes into play or “we could lose” if we take a risk.
If you are like me, you will have made decisions that have cost you money, cost you a friendship or at least cost you an upset. That is part of YOUR LIFE TRANSFORMATION, in which we are actors without a script. Personally, I believe that each of these experiences are part of what we require to grow and learn to develop our potential.
Many times they are not taken because of lack of self-confidence; because we believe that we do not have what it takes to achieve the challenge or because we see the obstacles as bigger than our own capacity or strength. Always question yourself, do not be reluctant to take risks, you could be limiting your ability to make a difference, a difference in your life, in the lives of others and why not? a DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD.
Never failing is also a consequence of not taking risks, of not innovating enough or of performing with an excess of comfort that prevents us from exploring new paths. If we do not fail, it is because we do not try different things; and if we do not try different things, we will never be disruptive in our business. Sooner or later someone else will do it for us.
Maybe there is something that you have been thinking about doing for a long time, analyze it well with these questions that I GIVE YOU today and BE ENCOURAGED, there is no way to lose. If things go as expected, you will have won over the uncertainty and will be happy with the result; and if things do not go as expected, you will have gained valuable experience that will help you to do better in the next attempt.
I give you my own phrase, which has helped me a lot when deciding to take risks and dive into that dream or goal I want to achieve: “It’s not just decreeing and visualizing, it’s acting”.
A big hug and I’ll be waiting for you in my book!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
We met in Bolivia, in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in an international company called Yanbal, he in the Marketing area and I in the human resources area. He is of Peruvian nationality and he had been transferred from Yanbal Peru to Bolivia as Marketing Manager while I was moving from the city of La Paz because I was working in a bank and the company contacted me to occupy the position of head in the human resources area. After 2 months we met. It was in February 2018 when we started sharing and getting to know each other, we got married in December 2019 until now and we will be married for 4 years. The most beautiful thing is that we both enjoy sharing the different roles in our life (friends, spouses, parents and work partners) always wanting to share more every day.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
We have a two and a half year old daughter and at that time she was not yet in kindergarten because we did not dare to leave her alone (without either of us) for so long, so we went out together. The first day we went out to look for clients we were with her, in the baby carriage, walking around looking for our first clients and we paused often because I was breastfeeding her, she was only one year old and it was funny when we knocked on the door of a restaurant where they had no sign asking for staff, but nevertheless I said to my husband I’ll stay with her you go in because your English is much better than mine and you believe !!!! She was our first client and then the manager came out and saw that she was with me and her daughter and told me and my husband: you are doing a great job as parents. God is always on our side if we focus and pursue the dream we want.
