We recently connected with Diamond Slaughter and have shared our conversation below.
Diamond , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents are amazing my mom taught me how to love myself and stand my ground. She’s the reason I want to live life I remember the times I was getting bullied and she would hold me tight and even threaten the kids who bullied me haha! She makes me want to make her proud and I think I am. My stepdad is an interesting person he’s a big nerd but it’s cool how he knows a lot he stopped into my life when my real dad didn’t he’s more of a father figure than him. He’s the one who let me experience what it’s like having a dad being a little girl and having tea parties with him just having a moment around him as a father I love both my parents very dearly.

Diamond , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well for starters my name is Diamond Slaughter some call me Ozzie, some call me Rin, and others call me Jink (pronounced jinx) my pronouns are She/He/They, and I live in Ohio! I am a Model, digital artist, music writer, and soon-to-be business owner. I do plus-size modeling to show that everyone can do it no matter the size. I draw people on my iPad I mostly draw anime and realism. I write my music no help is needed I’m going to be recording my songs soon and sharing them with the world! I also have a business coming soon that I can’t say too much about it is a secret lol! I think I have a lot of potential to make it in the industry with whatever that may be in going to show the world that even though you might struggle you can still make it we all have dreams and just wanna make them come true. I am so proud of the person I’m becoming I was super harsh on myself never complimenting myself or cutting myself some slack so I’m very happy to say that I’m proud of myself and everyone should be proud of themselves even the littlest of achievements please pat yourself on the back! I look forward to being your next artist or your next model I know we can make magic together and truly something special.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Creativity is something you can be born with, but it is also something you can find I know sometimes people think that being creative means you want some sort of attention, but don’t listen to that we all have unique ideas it is just about putting them together. Do you know how we use our imagination as children? Think of tapping back into that and making something out of this world that nobody has ever seen.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
It is so hard at first! I wish I could’ve told myself not to give up so quickly if it didn’t work the first time I gave up DON’T DO THAT! You are self-sabotaging yourself don’t worry about what-ifs or the negative headspace you’re in think about how you’re gonna make this happen and think of how great it’s gonna be!
