Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Diamond Mason. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Diamond , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My mother, Carmelita, is my hero. To give you a bit of a back story, she became pregnant with me at the age of 16 in the 11th grade. During this time she continued to attend high-school and managed to graduate on time in 1998. From high-school she went off to College and has since earned her Bachelors and Master’s degree. She’s currently in school working on her 2nd Masters degree while also running her own tutoring business. The business is called “Kingdom Kids Early Learners” offering tutoring for grades Pre-K – 5th grade.
My mother has always taught me that there are no expiration dates on dreams. There will always be bumps in the road and times you just can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. But with faith, anything is possible!
Watching my mother run her business and attend school has pushed me to go further and do the same. I’m currently attending Esthetician school while working full time, being a mother, and a freelance makeup artist.

Diamond , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Diamond Mason, freelance Makeup artist and Esthetician student. I’ve always had a love for the arts and all things beauty. I myself was never a big self care person but I believed in uplifting other people. I started my makeup journey in 2019 and I graduate from Esthetician school August ‘25!
As a makeup artist I specialize in natural and soft glam looks for any occasion. I feel that my ability to enhance your natural beauty is what sets me aside from others.
I’m most proud of my ability to adapt and stay up on the latest trends in the beauty industry as things are ever changing.
Once finished with Esthetician school , I plan to offer makeup, facials, waxing and more!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best sources are social media and referrals. Social media hashtags and reels help bring in more traffic.
Referrals are very important. Self care is such an important part of life and people love to look and feel good while being serviced by someone they can trust and does great work!

How did you build your audience on social media?
Just like anything in life, success takes time. Consistency is key! I recommend posting at LEAST 3 times a week while knowing your target audience. You are your biggest advocate.
My advice to anyone starting a business is to believe in yourself. Support is not always guaranteed and there will be times you feel alone and unsupported. Don’t focus on who’s not there and the negativity! As long as your drive and desire to succeed is strong, failure is never the outcome.
I wish every young entrepreneur and business owner success. We’re breaking generational curse and knocking down barriers one day at a time.
