We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Diamond Capreè a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Diamond , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I would have to say is the one I’m working on now I haven’t released a single or an EP in about three years. I just recently been through a break up with someone I felt was my soulmate. I can usually write from a sad point of view, but I’ve never written from a heartbreak. The songs on my EP I wrote so quick and easy because I was going through it at the same time I was writing it. It’s very meaningful to me because I’ve never expressed myself in this way before and I’m a little nervous to put it out. I’m hoping by releasing it. It gives me healing energy and gives me the strength to actually move on and heal.

Diamond , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Diamond Capreè I am a singer songwriter and I haven’t released a project in about three years, but I have been writing for underground artist which is very exciting. I also might have my first placement. I can’t announce who yet until it’s set in stone, but this is the first time that I might get a placement on a big artist album and I’m excited about that. Writing is such a passion of mine. I take it very seriously it’s a craft that I’ve honed for years. I enjoy writing for underground artist.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal as a songwriter is to get placements. It’s very difficult in a music industry to get them unless you’re extremely on demand like “the dream” or someone of that stature who work with big artists. I would love to get a sync deal and have some of my songs on commercial or television shows. It’s been a passion of mine for years and I feel like I’m getting close to it. My writing has become very strong over the years writing for other artists and myself as well. Hopefully soon God willing, I land myself a placement!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love when artist reached out to me to write songs, it means for one I’m good enough to write a song from them that they will ask me. It’s sharpen my pen. I have also been asked a ghost right for a girl group that I won’t mention because I didn’t get the placement, but it was a big known group from the UK. That gave me a big confirmation that I was moving in the right direction. My goal is to land one I feel like I’m close. I have to keep working. Keep praying and let God do the rest.
