Dhruvi, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

DROOVYY embarked on her journey as an independent artist in 2023, after spending five years DJ’ing across India. While she initially never envisioned herself as a singer, songwriter, lyricist, or producer, her passion for standing out creatively pushed her beyond the DJ booth. Originally, her plan was to break into real estate while growing her DJ career internationally under the moniker “Pumpcue.” However, life had different plans when she made the bold move to Los Angeles, aiming to expand her DJ brand.

DROOVYY has always been driven by a desire to be different—to be recognized for her originality and work ethic. She sees creativity as her true “net worth,” and with that mindset, she took the biggest leap of her life: evolving from a local DJ to an international, independent music artist.

Despite being an outsider to the music industry, her journey took flight. Coming from a business-oriented background in Mumbai, DROOVYY packed up her life and dreams, moving to Los Angeles in 2023 to pursue her true passion. In doing so, she not only discovered her artistic purpose but also continues to grow and flourish every day.

Born and raised in the bustling city of Mumbai, India—a city that never sleeps—DROOVYY began her journey as a creative DJ in 2019, performing at nightclubs and venues across the city. In 2018, she taught herself how to DJ from the ground up, and from the moment she got behind the decks, she was determined to build a career in the music industry and make her family proud. Using her network and connections, she worked her way into the scene, and with each performance, her skills sharpened. Soon enough, she was booked almost every weekend, spinning at some of Mumbai’s most exclusive clubs and even touring other Indian cities for major events like New Year’s Eve.

Her unique mixing style and impeccable song selections drew in crowds and established her as a DJ to watch. Over five years, DROOVYY didn’t just master her craft—she evolved. What sets her apart is her constant growth, transforming from one of India’s youngest female DJs into a multifaceted independent artist. She became a singer, songwriter, and producer, embodying her message that if you set your mind to something, the results will follow. It’s all about belief and making consistent, intentional changes that align with your long-term vision.

DROOVYY’s brand is versatile, empowering, and ever-evolving. Her music, as provocative as it is soothing, reflects the same rebellious and ambitious spirit she’s carried since childhood. After moving to Los Angeles, her life took a U-turn for the best, as she transitioned fully into the role of singer, songwriter, and DJ. Since March 2024, she has released new music every month, building a strong community of fans and supporters. Her sound—at once calming, uplifting, gritty, and daring—resonates with a broad audience, while her visual identity aligns with her empowering, female-centric messages. As she continues to grow, her music only gets better with each release!

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?

The best way society can support artists and creatives is by embracing art with a broader, more open-minded perspective. Each artist’s craft is unique, and we should celebrate that individuality—whether it’s a song, painting, or even a diss track. It’s important to see the positive in every piece of art and to try to understand the artist’s intention and approach. After all, artists thrive when they feel seen for who they truly are.

I believe fans and society play a huge role in shaping an artist’s journey. How an artist is perceived—whether positively or negatively—directly impacts their sense of acceptance, visibility, and connection. Fortunately, society has become more open and receptive to new cultures, trends, and art forms, which brings about exciting waves of change and growth. In this modern, tech-driven world, people are more aware and knowledgeable than ever.

However, there will always be those who feel the need to criticize or troll creatives, often because innovation makes them uncomfortable. Unfortunately, this can take a real emotional toll on artists. That’s why it’s crucial to be mindful with words. Creatives pour their heart and soul into their work, and being careless or dismissive can have damaging effects. Instead of demeaning or tearing down those who are true to themselves and their art, we should strive to support them with thoughtful, respectful comments. After all, behind every piece of art is a person who feels deeply and deserves to be treated with kindness.

DROOVYY wished she knew how to believe in herself more than anything and anyone else sooner. But, with that being said, everyone is on a journey be it a transformative or a healing journey and everything happens in the right time.
