We were lucky to catch up with Dhaisy Vue recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dhaisy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I say this to all of my students and peers… if I could go back in time, the only thing I would have done differently is start sooner. Not just getting my license early but also taking it more seriously to begin with. I was 20 years old when I got my esthetician license but because I was just a lost soul at that point, I wasn’t expecting much from this career. I felt like building a career in this industry was too good to be true. As I started seeing my own personal and professional growth, it motivated me to be the business woman I am today.
Dhaisy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a Licensed Esthetician, Lash Artist, and Educator based in Colorado. I run my own business and I have been pursuing esthetics education since last year. I didn’t just fall into beauty, I found healing through it. I’ve battled insecurity and self-hate, and beauty became the space where I learned to love myself. Now I help others do the same—whether it’s through lashes, brows, skincare, or teaching future beauty pros how to thrive. What sets me apart is that I lead with empathy and realness. I’ve been where a lot of my clients and students are, so I make sure every service and every class feels empowering, not intimidating. I’m most proud of the space I’ve created—a place where confidence is built, self-love is sparked, and beauty goes deeper than skin.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
I could share a lot actually. Not every moment as a business owner is pretty. There are a lot of tough moments, especially starting out, where it may seem like you’re not going to make it. When I was struggling after the first 6 months in my business, I got a second job as an Esthetician Instructor. I worked long days and nights- enough to build myself back up to a place that I was comfortable and finally focused solely on my business. It’s okay to admit that it’s not going as well as you want it to but as long as you work hard, there is no limit to what you can achieve.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Not that many people know this but as a business owner, your job is also to be a service provider, a receptionist, a janitor, and yes, the business marketing team. Because social media is the biggest source of advertising nowadays, that is half the job. You have to film content, edit content, post content, and engage with content. On top of all of this, it has to be consistent. With the amount of ad saturation, you have to stay on top of your game and fresh in your clients mind. Consistency is everything.
