We recently connected with Dgeorge Shoddie and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, DGeorge thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I grew up in the craft. I picked up tips and tricks from my family. I could have took it more seriously in the beginning and that definitely would have helped speed up the process. The most essential skill was being able to listen to my part and not everyone else. My obstacle was overthinking and doubting my moves when it came to to playing

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born with spinal meningitis and doctors felt I would not make it to see the age of 15. Yet, here I stand as Mr. DGeorge Shoddie, a 31-year-old native of the small town of Greenwood, Mississippi. Greenwood is a culturally rich town in the Mississippi Delta. It is known for creating numerous, talented Delta Blues musicians. As a locally known guitarist, I have been playing for 23 years in churches as well as various other venues. Additionally, I am part of the local Blues and R&B groups- ‘Sounds of Perfection’ and ‘Tru Vibez’.
I attended Mississippi Delta Community College, majoring in Applied Science of Automotive. Under the tutelage of Nick Lofton, I learn the inner workings of the Automotive world. Post college, I started off at Charles Spain Automotive, where old school cars were the heartbeat of our lives. As the time passed, I wanted to know and experience more, so I started a career as a technician at Cannon Motor Company of Mississippi. At the age of 23, I became the youngest Program Director in the history of Vatterott Technical College. In this position, I was fortunate enough to get three hundred students graduated.
Outside of being a musician, I am the proud owner of Shoddie Automotive, which is a mobile mechanic business.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I started to build my audience I had to learn to be transparent. Nobody wants to connect to someone who’s not being their self. People want to to be able to trust you so you have to provide the environment.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I first started no one wanted to hire me but I never gave up. I just got better with my craft until my time came.
