We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dexter Walker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dexter, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I can honestly say that being an actor/creator gives me a peaceful mind in every aspect. I know what it feels like to be working a regular job. As a rising artist from Houston,Tx…I’m currently working while pursuing my career. the goal is to work even harder for the rewards to be even bigger. Not money. Success!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started my acting career with little to no experience. Started creating my own content for the world to see on social media and quickly formed a huge fan base. Over time I took the time to perfect my craft by studying and reading many scripts from my favorite tv shows/movie.
Saying I’m proud of myself is an understatement. I will say I’m overjoyed of what I’ve become and what’s in store for me next.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Creating contents on social medias account was my jump start on gaining an audience. Contents such as comedy skits and reenactment scenes.
To any new creative artist, I highly recommend networking with other artists in your community. Trust me there is more talent in you area than you can ever imagine. I encourage you to Post! Post! Post!
Don’t get discouraged about the likes and comments.. Somebody is always watching. Never give up.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
We can do more of sharing and reposting our artist to have them be seen much more in the public eyes. You’ll be surprised of the audience that will be drawn in.
