Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Devonte Hodges. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Devonte , thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I wanted to create something that Recognize, Empower, and inspire parents. Parents play an important role in our lives. Sometimes I feel parents don’t get the recognition they deserve just cause they’re suppose to do things for us. Parents sacrifice a lot to create a better life for their children. A lot of hard work dedication goes into that process. Being a parent is very difficult and is rarely ever talked about I want to create a community where parents can come together to offer parenting tips ,experiences and help newer parents. Parents have a tough job With navigating their own lives and balancing that with creating a better life for their children. Sometimes society paints a negative picture about fathers and we want to repaint that image with the truth. A lot of parents are overwhelmed And stressed They don’t give themselves enough credit. I want to create a clothing brand that remind and show us how important we are. I want us to be proud to wear our most Profound title as parents. To know we’re the difference makers.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I always love fashion I think it’s one of the most important ways we can express ourselves. I wanted to create something with meaning behind it something that most people can feel. We provide our customers with the latest apparel trends such as active wear, accessories and casual wear. What makes us different is we want to bring the world together by showing we’re not that different as people we all have common goals and that is to protect and provide the best quality life for our families. We want to promote healthy parenting and provide a community that allows parents to have a space where they can talk about their experiences, lessons mistakes and how to balance life That it’s ok not to be perfect parent that we learn as we go that you could never fail if you keep trying eventually you will get it. I want the world to realize that we have more things in common than we have differences and if we can really work together we could accomplish more together then apart from each other.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

I have my own website on shopify the pros of having your own site is you don’t have to worry about third party fees. Your in more control of designing and content. It’s more professional to have a custom domain. Overall I prefer using shopify because of its accessibility, and compatibility. It has a list of applications that can enhance your website. The customer service is really good as well.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

One way I was able to show resilience was I never gave up even when it seem impossible. In the beginning I procrastinated at first because of all of the negatively I received but then I realized it was a strong vision of mine and I had to create it. I seen it multiple time I seen images bits of pieces now it makes sense. Not many people believed I’m me because they couldn’t see it but that I made my vision reality. I learned people won’t believe in things they can’t see or touch. It took alot for me to not care what anyone said about me I had alot to prove to myself. People thought I was crazy when I first started they said it wasn’t possible cause I didn’t have any experience but now I do. I’m thankful for all my challenges it made me more resilient.
