We were lucky to catch up with Devonta Willis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Devonta, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the best advice you ever gave to a client? How did they benefit / what was the result?
My wife and I really pride ourselves in taking an educational approach to our business over the straight sales approach. When I sat with one of our clients, I wanted to make sure that she understood the life insurance policy that she had in place at the time including all of the fine print that she stated her previous agent did not go over with her. My wife and I advised her that she was paying entirely too much for too little coverage and no control over her “savings” attached to her policy. We educated her on the benefits of having a pure term life insurance policy over her indexed universal life policy. She was astounded when we were able to double her coverage for less than half the price she was paying with her previous company. We then taught her that she could invest the difference that she saved by switching policies. She is now investing over $200/month into a retirement account that where she has full access to the principal and full control on where she wants to invest her money.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My wife and I are both military veterans. We served active duty in the Air Force. My wife served 13 years and I served six. We now are in a family financial services business. My father and mother in law have been in the business for about 23 years now and after leaving the military, we decided that we would join in.
We are the full spectrum when it comes to financial services. We offer everything from insurance and investments to mortgage and even Senior Healthcare.
One of the biggest services we provide to our clients is actually complimentary. It is called a Financial Needs Analysis. Essentially it creates a “Financial GPS”, guiding a client from their current financial situation to the one that they have on written on their goal board. We actually help our clients figure out exactly what they want their finances to look like, then we guide them on how to get there. We are able to go over everything like accelerated debt payoff plans, non restrictive budgeting techniques, and even income protection plans. We even offer periodic check-ins to ensure that in case anything comes up or “life happens”, we can adjust accordingly.
Our mission is to help families earn more income, become properly protected, debt free, and financially independent. We do that by educating families on financial concepts and ensuring they make the best decisions for THEM whether that means working with us or someone else.
We also understand that financial independence is not a blanket statement. We take the time to get to know each and every one of our clients and what independence means to them. Then, we aim to build long lasting, life-time relationships in the process. Our clients essentially become family.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We like to ensure that we are keeping in touch with our clients at the minimum of one time per quarter. We truly believe that our client experience is what sets us apart from the rest! We try to keep up with what’s going on in their lives to not only ensure they are getting all of the services they need, but also to build closer relationships.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The number one book so far has been Atomic Habits by James Clear. That book does a great job of stressing the importance of the small things that need to be done daily. Also, making sure that you are putting yourself in the best position each and every day to make progress towards your goals.
