Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Devon Williamson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Devon , appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned what I do through a combination of mentors, classes, and traditional schooling. I wanted to truly harness the skill and talent that I am passionate about. The only thing I believe I could have done to speed up my learning process was greater self-discipline to buckle down and focus on what I am doing for my aspirations. The most useful skill I believe I learned was marketing and finding what fits and works for me. The few most major obstacles that stood in my way were self doubt and the doubt of others but I needed to remember at the end of the day it’s my life and I’ll live it how I do so choose.
Devon , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I first got into the entertainment industry in high school through many extra-curricular activities I used to first learn my talent and skills and from there I branched out of just school productions to professional productions as well. When I began representing others who wanted to be more involved in the arts and entertainment I can honestly say I have always kept things honest with them and taught them everything that I could along with what I didn’t know and did know when getting into the industry. Something that sets me apart is my honesty with the people I work with me confident but I’m also humble so the truth does come out with me. The thing I am most proud of so far in all my endeavors is the fact that one of my model students booked a fashion s show festival with the aid of my teachings.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Charity starts at home. One thing society can do best is start with those in your neighborhood even friends and family also. People can also start at home find out what works in your hometown and use that to branch out and move forward. Don’t just keep supporting people that don’t need it and are thriving help those who have the ambition and are starting as well. From word of mouth or sharing a post from both ends of the supporters and the creators.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I have a lot to prove because I want to inspire change and dreamers to come and many more. I want to try even if nothing comes because I don’t want to just give up and quit nothing comes from quitting. I want to lead the way and cause a revolution of change by inspiring others.
