Devon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
First thank you for the opportunity – I’m so excited to be here, and I appreciate the opportunity to share my journey. Moving from an idea to actually making it happen has been quite a ride. Painting has always been a integral part of my life, coming from 3 generations of painters. I got my start at Sherwin Williams right after high school, learning everything there is to know about the industry. But it was when I was working for a commercial painting company that I really saw the potential in the market. This was during the COVID-19 pandemic, so there was a lot of downtime. That’s when I realized I could strike out on my own. I started small, with a Facebook page and some reviews from friends and family. Then, I built a website on Wix and got some business cards made. It was a slow start, but once people saw the quality of my work, word began to spread quickly.

Our company, A Quality Painting, is deeply rooted in family tradition and expertise spanning three generations of painters. Our journey began with my grandfather, who started his career painting water towers in Toledo, Ohio alongside his father. Over the years, he honed his skills and tackled challenging projects, including the iconic 2nd street bridge in Louisville, Kentucky.
Inspired by the lessons passed down from my grandfather, I started my own journey at a young age, learning the ropes of the trade from my Poppy. After gaining valuable experience working for Sherwin-Williams and a local commercial company, I realized that I had the passion and knowledge to establish my own painting company.
At A Quality Painting, we pride ourselves on integrity, grit, dedication to our craft, and the highest standards of quality workmanship. These values, instilled in us by our predecessors, form the foundation of our business. We are committed to carrying forward the legacy of excellence established by my great-grandfather, James Claud Dempesy.

How did you build your audience on social media?
When it comes to building a strong social media presence in the painting industry, consistency and engagement are key. Identify your target audience for me it was mostly women. I create content and focus our efforts on platforms where they’re most active, such as Instagram and Facebook. Maintaining a consistent brand image across all profiles to reinforce your identity as a reliable and high-quality painting service. Share visually appealing content that showcases your craftsmanship, including before-and-after photos, tips, and customer testimonials. Actively engage with your audience by responding to comments and messages promptly, fostering a sense of community and trust. Utilize hashtags strategically to increase your visibility and reach. Collaborate with complementary businesses and influencers to expand your audience further. Continuously track and analyze your performance metrics to refine your strategy and ensure long-term success. Remember, building a social media presence takes time and effort, so stay patient and persistent in your efforts.
