Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Devon DuBree. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Devon, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative career was my first portrait photo shoot in 2017. I had gone out with a couple of my high school friends to downtown Wichita Kansas to practice shooting portraits for the first time. The moment I realized I knew this was the path for me was after showing them the photos and their responses telling me how good my photos made them feel about themselves. I knew I could make an impact on the people I worked with and have strived for that ever since.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a 23-year-old professional photographer based out of Kansas City originating from Wichita Kansas. I initially got into photography and videography during my freshman year of high school, and have been creating ever since. I offer several types of services Portraits (Creative, Headshots, Family, Couples/Engagements), Live Music (Concerts/Festivals), and Weddings. With each of these each client is catered to for their given needs. However, my objective is to connect with each one of my clients in a way that not only meets their needs as a photographer but as someone who they feel they can depend on and who truly cares for them.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Creating a platform/space where everyone can feel welcomed, and that they are capable of achieving their goals, and they don’t have to do it alone. I’m not sure what that space/platform is yet but this will be the structure and purpose of its creation.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The feeling of helping another person feel better about themselves or their project. There is no other feeling that beats helping someone else.
