Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Devoe Sherman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Devoe, appreciate you joining us today. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
We make our private workshops & one on one coaching sessions easily accessible & affordable to everyone who needs a business coach to walk them through the process of how to operate & manage their business

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Growing up in a low-income neighborhood where all you saw was abuse, violence, and poverty was a constant challenge to overcome barriers- both invisible and visible. It was hard to overcome these barriers because I was constantly living with a little fear in the pit of my stomach. Living in a neighborhood where there are few opportunities and even fewer resources in school made it extremely challenging for me to graduate from high school. I always thought to myself, “What if all that I achieved was suddenly taken away from me”, “What if I could not provide for my family anymore” and even “How do I make my ancestors proud?” As I was growing up in this chaotic world, entrepreneurship was never mentioned by the adults in my life, and I would have never thought one day I would be an entrepreneur; but luckily that is what life had in store for me. As I began to listen and learn from others, I was able to become fearless.
Now, I can use my story to help others overcome that same fear that many of us have. I believe as we overcome fear together, we should help others do the same by contributing to their success!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My mother had me at the age of 14 years old. I went to UC and paid for my college tuition on my own while working at Krogers and Macy’s customer service department. The struggle was real. I caught numerous buses and shuttles to get back and forth to work. Eventually, I saved up enough money to buy a used car. I didn’t stop I keep pushing to move forward.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
I remember when we planned to make 100,000 but our sponsors failed to cover our operational expenses which were promised to us. Luckily, we made a deal and I was able to compensate all 12 of the contractors we had hired.
