Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Devin Dowell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Devin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
First off, I have the best parents anyone could ask for. I think growing up in an environment where you feel safe and loved is what made me feel confident and gave me the chance to help build others in my work. I know we’ve had our up and downs but truly they’ve been nothing but supportive with any decision I’ve had to make in my career. Overall their support and cheering me on is why i’m here today. I’ll forever be grateful for them.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a 4-year model and a 6-year digital creator. I specialize in making promotion content/ inspired content for some of my favorite brands such as DermaTech Skin, Rhode, Khy, Sprinter Vodka Etc. I love working with small businesses and showing love to their successful journey. Working with some of these amazing individuals in different fields helps me grow my audience and challenges me to think more outside the box with the content I create.
What makes me most proud is working alongside brands and people that I adore. It’s not every day you wake up and receive love from Hailey Bieber or Kylie Jenner sending brand products before they hit the shelf.
What sets me apart from others is my work ethic, my ability to capture the eye of these brands with my creative content and photoshoots. Another thing that sets me apart is me being a male working in an industry that not many males step foot in, but l want to be able to create change with that.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being able to say “hey. I helped that person today”. My life is all about helping other individuals be confident and not being afraid to show their true feelings. If I could ever sit down and hug every individual that will DM and spread positivity through my social media life I would.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
There’s no such thing as a smooth road, we all face different challenges in life. For me I’ve always pushed for what I want in life. I feel as if things get better when you keep a positive mind set. Never tell yourself “ I’m not good enough “ because you’re exactly where you need to be and you’re perfect. Things line up perfectly in time, “trust the universe” as Ariana Grande would say.
Keep pushing for things you want to achieve and complete in your life. Even if one goal isn’t met, make more! Try new things, give your brain ideas that will open new chapters for you. Anything is possible. Trust me, I never thought I’d end up where I’m at today but I’ve set goals and pushed my limits. I believe in you.
