We were lucky to catch up with Devin Dorman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Devin, thanks for joining us today. Covid has brought about so many changes – has your business model changed?
The transformation from COVID has primarily been in inconsistent supply chain and employment. COVID emphasized the need for well maintained core staff team within the company and sustainability in packaging that has more features to benefit the business and the customer. The general need to secure supply chain across the board to solidify communication and executing orders timely; these changes helped us to expedite orders in a more efficient way than before and helped to enhance project turn around times for all supplies and demand. Heightening focus on the growth from the retail package towards the bulk sales that would connect to food service and others.
Devin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Palmetto Farms expands with the addition of David’s sons. Devin and Andrew are the fourth generation to join the family business. Palmetto Farms still offers the same quality that has been produced since the beginning, so whether you purchase them online or at your local grocery store, you can still enjoy creamy stone ground grits and corn meal.
Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses.
I am a co-owner of a family owned/run business. I worked a lot, for free. I put a lot of money, time and effort into the business in order to help it grow and thrive.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Reputation by word of mouth. People’s opinion of our product has helped drive business for us on a local and national level.
