We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Deszerae Martinellé a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Deszerae, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.

I am at the point in my life where I’m taking risks and I’m super excited about it! I’m stepping away from being suite based and am focusing on traveling and doing pop ups with my business. One of my nicknames is Gypsy because I’m such a free spirit, I love new destinations and interactions. Just stay tuned… my biggest risk yet will soon be unveiled.

Deszerae Martinellé is a dynamic force for positive change, hailing from the heartland of Wisconsin but finding her home and purpose in the vibrant city of Atlanta. With a degree in Early Childcare Education, Deszerae’s journey into the world of nurturing began early on, but her passion for holistic well-being led her down diverse paths.

As a Licensed and Award Winning Massage Therapist, Deszerae discovered the profound impact touch can have on both physical and mental health. This realization spurred her into becoming a Maternal Health Advocate, championing the importance of nurturing mothers and their babies during the crucial early stages of life. Her journey didn’t stop there; she delved into mental health advocacy, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and soul in achieving true wellness.

Deszerae’s dedication to supporting families extended to becoming a Certified Trained Doula, offering her expertise and compassionate care to mothers throughout their childbirth journey. Her passion for music led her to master the piano, finding solace and expression in its melodies.

What am I most proud of?
Never giving up on myself and trusting in myself during times when I had to figure things out completely on my own. You know, just betting on myself and not waiting on others… I believe that’s my karmic lesson.

What do I want others to know about me?
I’m Spiritual first and everything else directly after.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?

If I could go back I would have been a Psychotherapist. I would’ve made a great Therapist! People come to me for comfort and with their problems all of the time. I’m naturally empathic with a listening ear. I now do that through consultations from time to time. Therapy still found me though by way of massage, it’s nonverbal healing which is extremely powerful.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

I initially funded my business start up with a woman’s grant that I won! It was a little under 2k and I was able to handle basic logistics. Not too long after, another 2k came my way which I put completely towards my business as well. So basically my initial start up was about 5k to get going and thankfully it came my way right on time. God is faithful.
