We recently connected with Destiny Rose Lopez and have shared our conversation below.
Destiny Rose , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
As someone who does work a regular job and has a business owner, I love having the creative direction and being able to promote my message and my art. Being a business owner, they’re times where it gets overwhelming and I think about how it would be like to work in another field but I realize that it’s not what’s calling to me. I want to connect with people through my art, my message and my love for sustainability. I love and I’m passionate about what I do.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello! My name is Destiny Rose Lopez, and im the owner of AZThriftsoul. A brand that specializes in up-cycled fashion, vintage home decor and clothing. AZThriftsoul started when I was 12 years old, first starting off by selling my own vintage clothes and it turned into something that I loved to do especially over the years when my love for the older things grew. I traveled to different places in Arizona to give me inspiration for my pieces and when I created my upcycled AZ flag jackets i started to gain clients and attention from everywhere. I felt so proud and accomplished because people were loving and appreciating my art the same way I do.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of clients has been through either social media or in person. I received clients through people seeing my work when I model it in videos on my Instagram page along with when I go to places and I wear some of my work to a restaurant or a store, I’ve had people come up to me and asked me where I got it. I feel like I’m able to connect with my clients and show them that I put effort, time and love into my work.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’ve built my business on social media by posting a lot of content everyday. It’s very tough to grow your engagement and reach new people but with enough time and effort you’re able to connect with your audience and see what works for you. My advice for anyone that wants to grow their social media, I recommend engaging with the people that do comment and like your things. It comes off as welcoming and friendly, it invites your audience to look into your business.
