We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Destiny Jordan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Destiny, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Coming up with a name for my business was basically the easiest part of starting a small business. My grandmother who raised me her middle name was Mae, and I always knew that no matter what I did in, life from having children to starting a small business I knew I wanted to keep her memories alive by incorporating her name some how. So first came my daughter Ariya Mae I knew for sure if my first child was a girl her middle name would be Mae. Fast foward to me starting a business I went through a few names and Ibwas originally going to call my business Mae’s Seamoss but I didn’t want to limit my brand that way, next was Mae’s Moss and More and to methay just sounded cheesy. Finally I thought about all of the things my grandmother would do growing up, she was a Seamstress and would sew make my dresses and socks, she would makenlittle things for other people as well. She also did a bit of decorating, maling centerpieces and bouquets, she was an awsome cook and baker, beautician, and lastly she was mother, basically she was an essential woman to her family of 10 children, a one stop shop if you will so I then came up with “Mae’s Essentials” because I provided more than just Sea Moss, I have all natural holistic Alkaline body needs! Just like my grandmother she had everything you needed in a small 2 bedroom home.

Destiny, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey into the sea of Sea Moss started in 2018 after having my daughter. While on maternity leave, I gained over 20lb and began to search for a way to become more healthy, lose weight, and help with my iron deficiency anemia. So like all of us, I began to do some Google searching. And to my surprise, I came across Dr. Sebi. Prior to finding an abundance of information on him, I always wanted to cross over to the vegan side, and at 170lbs I thought to myself “I have nothing to lose but weight!” So I began to follow Dr. Sebi’s teachings and transitioned to an alkaline vegan diet cold turkey! While making my switch, I learned about Sea Moss, a “superfood” algae of the sea and began to take it daily in my smoothies. After just three days, I began to notice a huge change in my energy level, skin, digestive system, and overall mood! What is Seamoss you ask? Well it narurally contains 92 minerals and rich in iodine and bromide, high in zinc, calcium. This wonderful combination has many different health benefits. Seamoss helps the bones, soft tissue, removes excessive fluid, helps to dissolve body fat, great for the hair, skin, and nails. It also works with the kidney and thyroid glands.
Indigenous to the unpolluted, cold Northern Atlantic waters of Ireland and Coastal USA/Canadian Boarders.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The Best source of new clients for me has me social media and pop up shops. Those are both great ways to meet and greet new people of different backgrounds and teach them about out products.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The main thing that I did to build my brand was to run paid promotions on IG and Facebook, I would schedule automatic post and emails, and I would google the best hashtags for the Seamoss business and include cities in my hash Tage because I wanted my page to show up if someone searched random things as well!
