We recently connected with Destiny Giebe-beaulieu and have shared our conversation below.
Destiny, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Beaulieu Esthetics was brought to life by legacy. Beaulieu — Which is French for Beautiful Place and my second last name. My father died when I was 14 years old. He was the most adventurous, outgoing, peaceful, adrenaline loving character I have ever met in my life. He worked on the Bering Sea in Alaska as a commercial fisherman and he was a veteran Alaskan King Crab catcher. He taught me how to fish by telling me life can be just like fishing, it teaches you persistence and failure. I then taught myself how to fight exactly how he taught me to fish. You have to fight for what you want for the Idea to turn into Execution.
Beaulieu Esthetics was established in 2022. The first idea of wanting to see our name on a wall was established well into my esthetics program as a student during our county’s pandemic. I became licensed and was thrown straight onto the floor at the Day Spa/Med Spa I was working for. I felt like I was fed to the wolves. Zero clientele and zero real life esthetics situations other than my apprentice work as a student esthetician. I had estheticians around me that were 15-25 years into the industry with booming full books. My first year was almost my only year in the esthetics industry because man… was it a roller coaster and I got so incredibly discouraged. Everyone told me the first year determined if you stayed practicing behind the chair or just kept the license for your life tool box. I went part-time at the spa because I knew I could not give up on my idea. I put myself out there as a now a licensed esthetician in hopes I would land a job in the medical field of dermatology. I confidently knew in my head that:
1. I wanted to own and operate my own business.
2. I wanted to get my feet wet on the medical side of skin.
As I grew into the professional I am today in the dermatology field, I happened to land my dream position working under two board-certified dermatologists as their esthetician and joining their medical assistant/scribe team. Even though I felt like I made it there within my career, I knew this was just the beginning. In June of this year, I was contacted by the Alaskan State Troopers about the cold case regarding my dad’s disappearance and death being brought to light. I knew that was the cue and push from my father to move beyond the idea phase and actually launch the Esthetics business. I had the clientele building and just needed to take the leap of faith of becoming a solo esthetician and opening my LLC. What was I waiting for?
The two main steps that allowed me to launch my business was determination on the left foot and the ability to be uncomfortable to get comfortable on the right foot. From the thousands of steps to actually open the business in the State of Missouri under city laws and the Board of Cosmetology laws, I wanted to close the doors before they were even officially opened. On top of all of the legal aspects to the business the rest has been falling right into place. My absolutely amazing skincare partnership with b.Skincare made in Texas, my business associate/landlord guiding me through smart decisions as a new business owner and sharing her knowledge of the game, my amazing boyfriend being my number one fan and biggest support system and lastly my best friend being the mastermind behind my design/aesthetics of my studio and Beaulieu Esthetics as a whole. They say it takes a village.
Beaulieu Esthetics is launched and ready for its official grand opening this Fall 2024!
Our name is on the wall in it’s Beautiful Place, Dad <3
In loving memory of Michael Leo Beaulieu.
Destiny, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those that do not know me, I am Destiny Giebe-Beaulieu. A flower child with a brave bold spirit and old soul. I try to spread peace and love everywhere I go. I believe an infectious smile and laughter is the best medicine. I truly believe I was placed on this earth to make a difference and help people. Not everyone can see the beauty in most all things like I can. I want to lead others by example that being simply you is simply beautiful.
As a young girl I struggled with my skin image due to my acne. I was a competitive dancer and cheerleader and I had absolutely horrible skin. I was teased and bullied most of my high school career due to the appearance of my face. My dermatologist and skin care team told me the worst nightmare a teenager could ever hear: you cannot wear makeup if you want to clear your skin. How in the heck was I supposed to compete without my costume makeup? Any performer knows… you can’t.
After my college studies, I worked for my family’s construction company. My cousin truly inspired me being a business owner and what it could be like owning my own LLC. There was a time of my life I was begging for my passion to come to light and find me. When someone else saw the light within me and I realized I have been practicing my passion of skin/skincare for nearly half of my life, I immediately enrolled in beauty school. I worked full time and hustled my butt off in a night time esthetics program to graduate the top of my class with all of the certifications and scholarships the school had to offer. It was time to share my passion to the world.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
This year has been very tough on my family and my in laws family. On top of our families going through some tough obstacles. I am also dealing with a big health concern that has reappeared after being precancerous free for 4 years. I faced one of the biggest health issues I have ever had once, now it’s back looking me dead in the face once again. Even if there is something highly challenging happening to me and my health, no one would ever know what I am currently facing and going through due to my resilience.
I truly believe that resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands. A number of factors contribute to how well people adapt to adversities, including the ways in which individuals view and engage with the world, the availability and quality of social resources, and specific coping strategies. Life is all about perspective and open mindedness. What you put into the universe, you will get in return. If you seek and practice positivity — good will come. If you do the opposite — misery loves the company. Life is too short and the world around us is too evil to feed into it with more negativity. Be kind. Be strong. Be resilient.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
WORD OF MOUTH. Everyone is going to ask you why your eyebrows, lashes, or skin looks so good. Send them to your trusted professional! It provides a win for the new client and a win for the provider. The potential new client sees something they like and they want it done exactly as they saw it. I believe people are more likely to book with that a person’s recommendation rather than nervously finding a spot/person on their own.
I gain most of my clients from personal referrals. Whether that is from my own clients or other providers in the beauty industry. We are all a team in this industry and all want our clients/patients to look and feel the best they possibly can! A few clients can be the walking advertisement of a professional’s craft and the word of mouth has the potential to spread like rapid fire.
