We recently connected with Destiny Bradd and have shared our conversation below.
Destiny, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
On my 21st birthday, I was ready to celebrate. However, many of my friends cancelled on me and couldn’t come to hangout. I so badly just wanted to go to a place where I could meet new girl friends and not be hit on by guys for dancing, or worrying about getting my drinks drugged. Then I had the idea. What if I CREATED that space for women to come to?!
After three months of planning and getting feedback from 100 women on a survey about my idea, I decided to go for it and create a test event to pitch my idea to women that were interested. I got an overwhelming response and one year later, I am still hosting events every month for women all over the valley in Arizona and have a team of 8 interns.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Girls Night Out is a social event brand that hosts public events for women to come to monthly. These events are public to women of all ages if they purchase a ticket, however we like to keep an intimate and private feel at any venue we choose so that we can provide safety and comfort to guests to be themselves.
Each event is planned with a different theme and location to always keep it unique and entertaining for guests. We have done events such as yoga, candlemaking, mixology classes, networking conference with keynote speakers… and more! We host these events all over Phoenix currently, however in 2023 we are planning to expand to Tucson, Prescott, Flagstaff and Sedona.
The most important thing to us is to not only provide that safe place for women to go out and meet new friends, but also to provide VALUE in their life in someway. This value could be through a connection, some knowledge, or inspiration. We want to make an impact and allow women to have a designated Girls Night Out once a month without all the hassle of planning their own. We make it easy for women to prioritize friendships and female bonding.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media has been the backbone of our business since we do not have a storefront. Social media is such a tool that should be used wisely. If you’re starting out, make sure to look professional but also approachable. Customers want to see your face, your employees, the venues or products you are selling, etc. The best advice I can give is talk to your customers like they’re your best friends if that’s the type of relationship you want with them!
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
Not only do we just host events, but we have an entire brand behind it. We produce revenue for our business through ticket sales to our events, but also we create custom stickers with a sticker designer for each monthly event based on the theme. We also recently launched apparel and other merchandise for purchase. We created a custom fragrance line as well. Lastly, we created a membership program for girls to attend our events more regularly with a bunch of perks attached. All of these have been great channels to keep us going.
